Re: Custom Folder Icons problem

I updated my response stating the switches weren't working. I mis-typed the switches. I'm not a programmer and thus, don;t know the proper syntax by heart.

Thanks for the help all.

Re: Custom Folder Icons problem

Admin,

Good call. Once I typed the commands properly (who would have thought *\/e and *\ /e work differently), it's working. Thanks for a nice new feature.

Custom Folder Icons problem

Admin, I just installed 24.60 on my Windows 10 Home machine so I could try the Custom Folder Icons. It is not acting as intended and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong... Previously, Custom File Icons denoted an executable to handle each file type and the icon displayed was that of the specified exe...

Re: What am I doing wrong?!?!

I compared good and bad *.ini files side-by-side, line-by-line and changed every setting that even sounded close to this topic. Now it works. I probably changed more than 50 things though, so I'll never know which did the trick. That's a downside to a program that is so configurable: you can configu...

What am I doing wrong?!?!

I am using version 18.90.0000. I run a few instances of XYPlorer, all portable, all on the same machine (Dell, Win 10). On one of those instances, I cannot drag and drop. On the others, no problem. On all, I have disabled left-click drag and drop, so this problem is only for right-click D&D. On ...

Re: Drag Status box resize?

Jupe, Thanks for the response. I feel kind of left out, but need the added control that right-click only drag offers (too easy to "lose" a file by mistakenly dragging and let go at the wrong time, effectively dropping it into an unknown location). If Developer is listening, I would like to...

Drag Status box resize?

I downloaded Beta 18.80.0005 and tried the drag status box. Perhaps I don't understand how it works, but as I see it, it simply adds "stuff" to the typical drag pointer while providing no meaningful information. I suspect the lack of info may be because the resultant box is too small so th...

Click and Tag :Tags behavior

When I make a "Click and Tag" group, the tags seem independent from the main tag list in that I can add a new tag to that list and tag a file. The tag is associated to the file, but does not appear on the actual tag list . By not appearing on the tag list, when I clean orphaned tags, are t...

Re: feature request: Favorites hierarchy

Another use for nested categories is the use of tag groups. I've just made 5, and could add more, but they take up a lot of room on the catalog. Since they're considered categories themselves, I can't put them in a category to hide them within. Nested categories would be the perfect solution to allo...

Re: XY does not show the Carbonite right-click menu option

Cynthia, Instead of right-click functionality, would you be willing to use a script instead? Simply highlight the file(s) and click a user button rather than right-click. I don't personally write scripts, so can't say how or if it could be done, but with so many experts on the site, I assume someone...

Re: Microsoft Office Can't Save!!

All, My apologies for posting before I explored all avenues: A totally fresh installation is working properly. I don't know what about the old installation was corrupt, but once I simply put another copy of the portable program on this machine, it started working properly. Thanks for the help. Bill

Re: Microsoft Office Can't Save!!

Maybe you are previewing this file in XY? No dice; I'm definitely running the files from uSoft Office. Does XY make any working or temporary copy of Office files while those files are open? If that copy is marking the file as open, or is read-only, this might explain why I can't save the original f...

Microsoft Office Can't Save!!

Admin, If I open a file using any Microsoft Office 2007 component (word, excel, powerpoint, etc) from within XYPlorer, when I try to save that file, I get an error. That error varies based on the specific program: Excel says "your file could not be saved due to a sharing violation", in Wor...

Re: Newbie looking for Tag entry Tips or suggestion.

Sounds like another use for Tag Hierarchy. With that, he could turn his list of 100 tags into 10 lists of 10 each selectable by the upper level of the hierarchy.
