Images File not opening iamages in sequence?
Hi All,
Say a folder with 2000 images,
I want to inspect fine differences, within two apparently identical images
I cannot find how have XYPlorer do this.
I open say image 65, then hit the right arrow button
which should open image 66, instead it opens image 123
Sounds simple, but dashed if I can find any reference, driving me nuts.
Thanks

View? Sort order?
So many questions and settings that could affect your experience, you might have to elaborate a bit more or even add some screenshots.

Make sure that this entry is checked (or if it doesn't exist create it) in CFA (Custom File Associations):
Code: Select all
"Windows Photo Viewer" {:Image}>::run """%SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe"" ""%ProgramFiles%\Windows Photo Viewer\PhotoViewer.dll"", ImageView_Fullscreen <curitem>"

Windows Photo Viewer? Why?
Just use F11 (Floating Preview), then walk through the images by Up and Down.

Re: Images File not opening iamages in sequence?
Thanks for helping me Ralph,
I am hopeless at all things IT
Ok here are two scans
I had used view / sort / alphabetically ascending (no good)
Here is my CFA box
I have 800,000 images, and I need to sort this out,
also, when XYP opens an image, it opens as an ACDSee image
Is windows photo viewer better (I hope so)

F11 works OK, Thank you.
However, (I hope I don't sound snarky,) but it's clunky, compared what I have been doing for 20 years
In ACDSee I click on an image, and use the mouse wheel to go up and down the images.
Being able to "toggle" two images in sequence, assist finding minute differences in 2 images
If XY plorer can use the wheel mouse to do the same, I'd be delighted.

Rule of thumb: XYplorer can do everything.
With that out of the way, press F11 on an image, right click on the image in the preview, and uncheck "Zoom by Wheel". Then you will get browse by wheel.

Guess whos' a happy chappy
Brilliant ! I love XYPlorer
It can find an image I want, from 400,000 in seconds, it's just mind boggling.
I wanted to transfer (copy) my XYPlorer, (win7) to my on line computer (win 10)
Try as I may, couldn't get it to work.
So I said "hang the expense" I'll just buy another copy,
I installed the "trial" , and I am getting access denied warnings. (sigh)

Re: Images File not opening iamages in sequence?
XY Appdata folder with 36GB
, you must have a lot of cached thumbs or something like that.
My whole XY folder including data is just 15MB in size.
As your W10 computer will have a different folder/file structure (I assume), these cached thumbs will make no sense to copy from one computer to another.
You probably want to copy everything but the Thumbnail folder from W7 to W10, which will preserve all your settings and then rebuild your thumb cache on the 2nd machine based on its files.

Re: Images File not opening iamages in sequence?
Thanks Ralph,
yep sounded large to me also.
I have I think somewhere around 600,000 images on the win 7
I wondered why, when I search for an image, it only takes seconds
they all must be cached
I'll try your approach, thanks for being helpful.

Ask a friend with more IT knowledge who can have a look at your system either in person or via Teamviewer or similar.
There must be a way!

Re: Images File not opening iamages in sequence?
All sorted Ralph, thank you for your encouragement.
I found my original XYplorer in my WINRAR zip archive,
Installed the trial, and the unlocked with my serial number.
With Migration, looked simple
APP folder in C:\program files\xyplorer
The app data
in C:\users\rodney\app data\roaming\ xyplorer
I got to C:\users\Rodney, and tried to add folder "App Data" it was denied, "there is already that folder"
It did not show up in any explorer I have.
I cursed more than I am want, went outside with a cuppa, under the parasol.
If there was a can, in the street, I would have kicked it.
As bright as IT professionals are, they are neve
r able to come down to my level
The bane of my life.
