Creating sub-folder by rename + insert \ = XY Hangs for 50 seconds.

I'm curious to see what comes out. 50 seconds is a long time. It will probably be some heavy columns or a script triggered by custom event actions.

I don't do any of that, which is also part of the curiousity. All thumbnail generation is off, I don't run any non-Explorer columns, and the only scripts in my system ar run manuall from the User Menu or opening a scripting file from Scripting -> Run Script. I don't use the tagging, favorites or most the mini features.

And yes, the systems are vey different and frequently used for different tasks so just using the other ini is unlikely.

This line seems to be the fault for the setting 'InfoTipVisList' :

If I comment it out, it's instant.
If I leave it enabled, I get long, long delays.

I have no idea what it is, and I didn't create it by hand, so I still believe this is a bug.

The InfoTipVisList key corresponds to this setting:
Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show file info tips | Select Standard Fields...

At first glance, it's unclear how this could be responsible for the delay. Anyway, try if unchecking Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show file info tips | Use standard shell file info tips makes a difference.

Apologies on the delay, I was hoping to have more useful information. However; it appears my testing was flawed. If I close and re-open XY, even with my original ini. It's fast to perform the operation. I don't know when or how long I have to wait, but at some point it becomes slow.

So, that throws a whole other wrench into things and wasn't something I'd tested before.

I'm not sure how to go about testing it now. I thought I had it with that line, but

Alright, I caught this on video.

I tend to leave XY running at all times, which may have been why I didn't notice immediately after a restart it worked.

Attached is a ZIP (since the forum won't let me attach MP4's directly).
In the zip are two videos; I show the XY "Various Information" dialog before both.

First Video: I've had it running ~2.5 hours. I rename both an empty directory and one with a single 400mb file in it. Both take ~35 seconds to unlock.

Second Video: I close and reopen XY; Show the 'Various Information' box again (showing 55 seconds uptime). In the exact same path as the last video, I create a new empty folder, rename it, and it works instantly. No INI changes, nothing in between, just closed XY, Repoened XY.

No. If you maintain that this is caused by differences in the XY configuration, then you are the only one who can determine the cause.

I don't maintain that. In the last 2, 3 posts I've in fact shown otherwise and was asking for input based on that information.

I demonstrated, on Video posted above, that if it's been running for an amount of time, it's slow unlocking after the rename. If I restart it XY before performing the operation, it's instaneous. Sounds like a bug somewhere.

Here's another video. No cuts, but I blur the background of my monitor between closing XY and relaunching it.

Video start - Show information, XY has been running almost 6 hours.
I go through the process of the renaming with a slash on two different drives. Same behavior on both. Timing is something like ~40-45 seconds apiece of hanging after the operation appears complete; Multiple times.
I close XY, and restart it.
After starting XY; I show the 'Various Information' dialog again, uptime 5 seconds.
I perform the same steps again, and there is no hang; The result is instantaneous

No INI changes; Nothing. Sure sounds like a bug now that I've nailed this process down.

Appreciated. I know the capabilities of XY far exceed what I use it for, but it's a curious detail that (essentially) the longer I leave it running the longer it hangs.

Where is the debug data stored, do I need to CTRL+ on a menu item, or is there a log that'll be generated somewhere?
