Creating sub-folder by rename + insert \ = XY Hangs for 50 seconds.

I'm curious to see what comes out. 50 seconds is a long time. It will probably be some heavy columns or a script triggered by custom event actions.

I don't do any of that, which is also part of the curiousity. All thumbnail generation is off, I don't run any non-Explorer columns, and the only scripts in my system ar run manuall from the User Menu or opening a scripting file from Scripting -> Run Script. I don't use the tagging, favorites or most the mini features.

And yes, the systems are vey different and frequently used for different tasks so just using the other ini is unlikely.

This line seems to be the fault for the setting 'InfoTipVisList' :

If I comment it out, it's instant.
If I leave it enabled, I get long, long delays.

I have no idea what it is, and I didn't create it by hand, so I still believe this is a bug.

The InfoTipVisList key corresponds to this setting:
Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show file info tips | Select Standard Fields...

At first glance, it's unclear how this could be responsible for the delay. Anyway, try if unchecking Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show file info tips | Use standard shell file info tips makes a difference.
