The
"clone file structure here"
"mirror entire structure here"
"snapshot files and attribs here"
"produce analog files here"
"twin-tree here (zero byte)"
"build a files' catalog here" (to not confuse with the Catalog feature)
"pseudo-tree here" (which is a perfect companion for the mini-tree ;) )
feature.

Since "empty / zero bytes files" is well know
and there is already
Paste Special > Paste Folder Structure
i would stay in that row like

Paste Special > Paste Folder Structure And Files As 0-Byte
Paste Special > Paste Folder Structure And File-dummies
Paste Special > Paste Folder Structure As 0-Byte Clone
Paste Special > Paste Folder Structure (And Files As Empty)
Paste Special > Paste Folder And Files (0-Byte)

OK, too long, but maybe
Paste Special > Paste As 0-Byte Clone
Paste Special > Paste As 0-Byte Copy
Paste Special > Paste As Zero-Byte Clone
Paste Special > Paste As Zero-Byte Copy

Hmm, some ideas removed because "empty" could here be misinterpreted as empty folders instead of empty files (0-byte)

These are the only two that I see as really descriptive...though I'd make the first one "zero " instead of "0-" since at a quick glance, is it "O" or "0"?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

OH, now I got it: that "could" was not past tense but irrealis. English is ambiguous here...

Thanks. I like Paste As Zero-Byte Clone.

I can never understand the need to duplicate words from a parent menu in child menu entries. Is having to mention Paste twice really necessary? Doesn't the thought trail automatically carry things like that over in the mind?

Yes, it is redundant, but in certain contexts it is useful to carry a standalone meaning with the caption, e.g. you can meaningfully talk about the command "Paste As Zero-Byte Clone" without mentioning the menu structure. Whereas the command "Zero-Byte Clone" rather sounds like horror movie.

this one's cool: "attribute-aware zero-byte cloning".

Is the brand-new-absolutely-fantastic XYcopy the way to go and get this unique function up and running?

I am wondering: as far as I can see Wipe could do:

1. Reset file attributes. -> optional
3. Set file size to zero.
5. Reset file dates. -> optional

Put that on a drag menu option as input for a target, make it act like "Create Branch(es) Here"
and all engines are set to go!

(the increasing use of external storage devices 1TB+ and seeing XY folderreport succeed where anything else failed makes me really wish for this besides the other aforementioned reasons, sorry for the bumping)

That would work but there are cooler ways to do this (without first copying bytes and then setting file size to zero). Don't worry, it's on my list. :)
