Does XYplorer run under Windows 7?
Yes.
Does XYplorer run under Windows Vista?

Does XYplorer run under Windows x64?
XYplorer comes with a 32-bit executable but it works well on 64-bit Windows. One thing you have to know: 64-bit shell extensions will not be shown in a 32-bit shell context menu (and vice versa).
I want to upgrade to Windows 7. What steps should I follow to migrate XYplorer?
Since XYplorer is a portable application you don't need to do any uninstalling or installing. Instead simply copy the XYplorer application folder (typically C:\Program Files\XYplorer) with all contents and you are done. Your complete configuration including registration is now ported to Windows 7 and ready to go.
Does XYplorer preview MS office files (Word, Excel, etc.)?
Yes. If you are using Microsoft Office 2007 or later you might want to read this further information.
Does XYplorer preview PDF files?
Yes. As well as HTML, MHT, EML, MSG, URL, and many more.
Does XYplorer support PDF thumbnails?
Yes.
Usage
How do I make XYplorer my default file manager?
It can be done, but you need to edit the registry.

How do I migrate XYplorer to another computer?
It's very easy. Since XYplorer is portable (not installed/registered) you simply copy the whole application folder to the new machine and you are done.
How can I show Subversion/TortoiseSVN icon overlays in Tree and List?
Simply check "Show Icon Overlays" in Configuration | Advanced.

Trouble with permissions on Vista/Win7?
If you are not allowed to open certain folders it's very likely an issue caused by User Account Control (UAC). Workaround: Right-click XYplorer.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
Note that when running XYplorer directly from the "installer" GUI it will automatically enjoy administrator privileges.

Can I upgrade from Standard to Lifetime License?
Of course you can. Note, however, that there are no upgrade discounts. You
will have to purchase the Lifetime License at the full price.
If I purchase a License, will I get upgrades for free?
Yes. If you purchase a Standard License, you will get one major version cycle for free (that's currently all upgrades up to version v9.80). If you purchase a Lifetime License (Pro or Home), you will get ALL future upgrades for free!
How do I upgrade my version?
Simply download the latest version from the website, close any running instance of XYplorer, and install the new version over your current one. Your configuration will not be overwritten, so your settings and personal license key remain intact.
Will one license cover all my computers?
Yes. One license (Standard or Lifetime) grants you the right to use XYplorer on any number and kind of devices.
Waiting for the License Key?
You just have purchased a license but (apparently) did not receive your license key by email within a few seconds? Here are some tips that might solve the issue:
(1) Check your SPAM-folder.
(2) If you paid by eCheck: It usually takes about 3 to 4 days until payment is completed.
(3) If you paid via PayPal: Remember that your PayPal email account has been used as address if you did not state otherwise.
(4) Make sure that your email address is correct and working.
(5) If emailing is not possible for some reason, please contact support via the user forum: The license key can be sent to you via private message inside the forum.
Can't unlock trial version?
(1) The unlock dialog is found under menu Help | Unlock Trial Version...
(2) The username is case-sensitive, so please check its spelling and capitalization ("Name", see image below).
(3) Copy and paste the license key (do not type it to avoid typos) ("Key", see image below). Note that the key is found in the line starting with "Key:".
(4) The folder where XYplorer.ini resides must be writable. If you try to unlock on a CD-ROM it won't work.
(5) If you purchased a Standard License, note that the Standard License was only introduced with version 6.40, so please upgrade to the latest version.

How do I upgrade from pre-v5.60 to v5.60 and later?
Registered users upgrading from a version earlier than 5.60 need a new
license key to unlock XYplorer 5.60 and later!

I bought my license years ago. Will it still unlock the latest version?
Yes. All licenses bought before October 2007 are Lifetime Licenses!
If you upgrade from a version earlier than 5.60 you will need a new
license key. Get it here (at no cost).
