Bug: Long path cannot open file (regression since v26.70)

Hi Donald,

I found a regression bug with long paths in recent versions.

- XYplorer version: YOUR_VERSION (e.g. 27.20.1204 32-bit / 64-bit)
- Windows version: Windows 10/11 Pro 22H2
- Issue: Cannot open files with very long paths (over 260 chars).
- Last good version: v26.70 (works fine)
- Broken versions: v27.x, v28.x (all newer)

Example path (cannot open .doc):

Behavior:
- v26.70 and earlier: opens normally, no error.
- v27.x+: error "path too long" or fails to open, cannot launch associated application.

Configuration:
- Support overlong filenames: ON
- System long paths enabled: YES

1) How exactly do you open the file? Double-click?

2) Are you using any custom file associations for this file type within XYplorer? (Tools | Customize File Associations...)

I have tried opening it by double-clicking, as well as via the "Open with" option in the right-click menu, but I keep getting an error that Word cannot open or save this file because the path name is too long.
I have set up file associations, but I still cannot open it properly.

By the way, the same folder path could be opened smoothly in version 26.70.06 without any error message about the path being too long.Also, the file can be opened without issues from Windows’ native File Explorer (explorer.exe).

Could you please verify this by testing this version and the version right before:

In version v26.80.0403, files with long paths can be opened normally. However, in version v26.80.0404, the files fail to open. The issue appears to have started occurring starting from v26.80.0404.

Is there any way to fix this issue? As an XYplorer user, I believe the basic and core function of XYplorer is to quickly locate and open target files. If long-path files can only be opened via Windows’ built-in File Explorer (explorer.exe), I will have to choose not to upgrade the software until the problem is resolved.

1) What is your system setting for LongPathAware? You find it in the 7th line of Help | Various Information.

2) What is your setting for tweak OpenOverlongNoDOS83? Check it in XYplorer.ini.

Windows UI Language: ChineseSimplified, LongPathAware: Yes
OpenOverlongNoDOS83=0

With the same Windows system settings and environment, as well as identical XYplorer configuration, version 26.70.06 can open long-path files smoothly, whereas version v26.80.0404 and later versions fail to open such files.

Did this only affect DOC files? If yes, which version of Word are you using?

No, this issue affects the opening of **all files**, not just office software. Files such as CAD drawings also cannot be opened normally.
