So I have been working on learning the features of XYplorer.
I have been doing this for a few weeks now.
For the most part; it's been close to what I expected regarding the amount of effort required. However, there are several areas/points that have been troubling to find information.
This is not because the features are difficult once learned, it's because some settings are not in preferences, Example: CTRL+RC on a circle to change the colors.. ***BUT HOW DO YOU KNOW TO DO THAT? ***
So now I find myself trying LC, MMB, RC, with each modifier key and combo on every UI component to see if there's options available. YEAH, IT'S SILLY! 100%!
Reading a hotkey chart won't do much for the learning process but it helps in a 10% kind of way I guess, this is because terms used vary and features are custom. AKA: there's deciphering to be done.
In an attempt to try to clarify this rambling of mine
Question;
Is there a set of videos that shows news users how to manage features that are not hyper obvious ?
Like 30second to 1 minute videos for overviews of feature sections ?
Example: In the 3dTech space we make Usability Image maps or 30 second videos specific to terms and uses ; AKA: Image maps:We highlight a region of the ui, show shortcuts, mention specific menu names and term specifics.
This way new users know the core info as to be productive rather than spending hours sorting usermanual info and term use specific to the program.
What does the above mean ? What am I trying to ask ?
Is there a way to learn the features of XYPlorer without fumbling through the process, googling for hours, and RTFM the manual for more hours ?
EXAMPLE:
I spent an hour digging through the settings, manual, googling... **just to find this** -> CTRL+RightClick to change the color of the circles regarding age.
There's a Colors option in the Settings panel ..but not for this feature. There's Jump-search info in Settings panel but not for this, ..
The manual is elaborate and appears to be a well done expounding of the program.. but I just wanted to change the colors of these UI components that seem to be tucked away in you'll-never-guess-how land.
What do I think would be a good idea ?
If there was a video set, 20 minutes of videos 30 seconds long, to the point.. showing sections, infos, etc..
I have a feeling alot more people would buy XYplorer if there was a super easy onboarding to a this wonderfully complicated tool.
How can I assume such a thing ? -> because I held off buying for more than 6 years because of that reason. I only decided to buy for the custom copy feature (plus I knew I would enjoy the entire program once I learned it). It's not been so fun to learn. Sorry... just being honest. It's fun to use, but not learn.
OK, so now that I have rambled about various points..
... let me say that there's no need to respond.
If there is an easy and somewhat swift onboarding for me to enjoy I would love to know of it. ....Maybe this exists and I am missing it ?
This could easily be a $50/60usd purchase if the onboarding was adjusted and people would be surprised by the featureset in action.
Enjoy your week. Thx for reading this.
Feel free to ignore me.. but I don't think you should!
