Hello,
I really love this file manager! I still sometimes use FreeCommander, but it seems to hang up on me a lot, and I am not sure why......anywhy......
Is there a way with XYPlorer to have a button or something inside or on the file window to go up to the parent directory? I know that there is a button on the upper toolbar to do just that, but it might be nicer to have a button down in the frame that I am working in to do the same thing.
Thanks in advance for the help,
Jim

Re: In-frame method to access parent directory
Hi and welcome to the XY forums!
And thanks for your positive comments about XY!
When you say "in the frame" and "file window", I'm not exactly sure where you mean...are you talking about the list?
Anyway, do you know that "Backspace" key is the default KS for "up"?
Ok, so it's not a mouse-able thing but...it is usually a rather large key that can be easily hit.

A lot of modern mice have a couple of buttons on the thumb side to allow Back/Forward navigation. Yes, Back and Up are technically not the same, but...j_c_hallgren wrote:...Ok, so it's not a mouse-able thing but...it is usually a rather large key that can be easily hit.

Try this: Configuration | Advanced | Dbl-click on empty space goes up
Then the whole white space (tree and list) is your up-button...
And hold SHIFT to go down again!

Re: In-frame method to access parent directory
I only use a mouse a few times a year at home, and that's an old-style two-button one...I use them in library and public places but at home, I'm almost always touchpad'n so I don't relate to many mouse features, like middle-click.zer0 wrote:A lot of modern mice have a couple of buttons on the thumb side to allow Back/Forward navigation. But...zer0 wrote:A lot of modern mice have a couple of buttons on the thumb side to allow Back/Forward navigation. Yes, Back and Up are technically not the same, but...
Code: Select all
; Tweak: 0=Back, 1=Up
CEA_MouseBack=0
; Tweak: 0=Forward, 1=Down
CEA_MouseForward=0-

Ahhhhhh.......now THAT is a pretty nice feature....perhaps even better than what I wanted. Thank you so much for the help! This program just keeps getting better!

And a FYI for anyone on vers earlier than 9.07.11, this setting was in General, not Advanced.admin wrote:Try this: Configuration | Advanced | Dbl-click on empty space goes up
