Windows 7: Running XYp as administrator from a Desktop shortcut
In order to access all directories XYp needs to be started by hand from Explorer (right click exe file and choose'run as adminstrator').
Is there a way to do this automatically, i.e., have a shortcut that will start xyp as administrator ?
Thx for your help
Urs

Hello and welcome to the forums!
Yep, there is a way. Right-click on a shortcut --> Properties --> Advanced (in the Shortcut tab) --> Tick 'Run as administrator'

Re: Win 7: Running XYp as administrator from a Desktop shortcut
Glad to be here, thx.
I found the checkbox, unfortunately it's not responsive, i.e. I can see the box but I cannot tick it.
Normally, I'd think thats because I'm logged in as user with no adminstrator rights. That's not the case though. This happens when I'm logged in as adminstrator.
Any ideas ? Pro memoria: this concerns Win7, on a new Sony vaio laptop where win 7 was preinstalled.

What if you log on as Secret Super Administrator?
Run CMD as admin and then type Can you tick the box now?
Is your UAC disabled? If it is, then enable it -- this will allow you to tick the box. Then disable it and the setting should hold.
Run CMD as admin and then type

Re: Win 7: Running XYp as administrator from a Desktop shortcut
Dear zernought
None of the above had any effect on the checkbox. Though I have to say I enjoyed messing around in the cmd box. Reminded me of the good old Dos days.
But then I got to thinking, maybe my XYplorer shortcut wasn't what i thought it was. And indeed,so it was, or rather wasn't. It was only a shortcut to open the directory wherein the xyplorer exe file lives. Once I made the shortcut one that starts the exe file, the checkbox showed up.
All is well now.
Thx for your help and patience
