custom icon for catalog entries
Now that we have CTB with custom buttons i was wondering if we could have custom icon for catalog entries. Really the one entry i would like custom icon for is a catalog entry that launch a script. Right now they all have the same icons and it would make things a lot faster to also have custom icons in catalog.
What do you think?
Thanks

Yep, makes sense. 8.50 should have that.

Re: custom icon for catalog entries
I'd have to disagree with this proposal. At least for the time being anyway. Referring to ability to customise CTBs' icons as a reason to have the same with catalogue (let's spell it the English way, not American, shall we?) is slightly unfair because by default CTB's icons come with a picture of that flower. Catalogue's icons, however, are derived automatically, which is a significantly better solution. Therefore, if customisation of those icons is introduced then Catalogue would be one step ahead of CTBs in terms of how much customisation can be done or is done already.
Granted, I don't use the catalogue so whatever happens to it won't (and shouldn't) affect me. To balance things, why not have a scrollable list (for both catalogue and CTB with a list of registered apps and small icon previews pulled from the registry) where a user will be able to apply an icon without having to browse or worry about files being moved.

Re: custom icon for catalog entries
I am not sure i understand why catalog shouldnt have custom icon.
Bu may be a simple solution would be to add it by script. My problem is with script loading in catalog. May be a global variable in a script could be used as icon (or variable in a sub function), just like an icon is associated to an executable.

Don't worry, he just needed to express his funny "worry about files being moved" another time in public. Ignore it.carmenm wrote:I am not sure i understand why catalog shouldnt have custom icon.

Not at all. Why should Catalogue get customisation of icons if it gets different icons by default whereas CTBs don't? If Catalogue gets icon customisation, then what will CTBs get? Dynamic icons ala Save All Settings icon?admin wrote:Don't worry, he just needed to express his funny "worry about files being moved" another time in public. Ignore it.

Re: custom icon for catalog entries
+1 for custom icons on Catalog.
And not really on topic, but here I go anyway : here's a Catalog behavior that annoys the Hell outta me. I have my Catalog, and I can scroll up as well as down. If I click the top (visible) item, nothing else happens. However, if I click the bottom item, the Catalog auto-scrolls down by one item
(which means I always have to scroll one up, since I use all the visible items including the top one -- which is now gone, unlike that new one at the bottom which I don't care for atm...)
I'm not sure why it is that way, but I really wish it would stop, please?

Re: custom icon for catalog entries
On a related note, will the same restrictions apply to Catalogue icons as they do to CTBs i.e in terms of scaling, file format and size?

Try to increase the height of the Catalog by 1 pixel or so...jacky wrote:+1 for custom icons on Catalog.

Re: custom icon for catalog entries
Just an idea:
I even want to see NO icons in catalog as an option
if it could be implemented.
Because i shrink the size of the catalog as small as i can do - to have more space for the panes.
Getting rid of the icons would get me more space to read the captions of the items.
And having different categories for each type of items and good descriptions - i know the items without seeing an icon too.
(found nothing in options and wiki ini tweaks)

Re: custom icon for catalog entries
Is that doable in the latest release?
I tried the | in the caption area but it does not work.
THanks
