Focus after deletion of a child branch

Post by zer0 »

Hello everyone,

Great to be part of the community of such a great product as XYplorer is :) Anyhow, as wonderful as it is, there are always things that can make it a bit better, right?

I tested my wish in Windows Explorer and got the desired result, but I was hesitant to call it a bug as far as XY is concerned, perhaps it's a feature and there is a reason for why it is the way it is. Without further ado:

1. Imagine there are 2 folders (called A and B), they are located in the same tree branch one underneath the other.
2. Now create a subfolder (let's call it C) in folder A and navigate to it. It's assumed that C is the the only subfolder that A has.
3. Delete folder C (either right-click -> Delete or just "Delete" on your keyboard)
4. Upon deletion, the focus switches to folder B instead of subfolder's parent folder A (it goes to A in WE).

I'd very much like to know why the focus moves to folder B instead of folder A (I expected it to go to A) and if it would be possible to have it switch focus to A please.

Many thanks.

Hi and Welcome to XYplorer,
I know this problem, it has been there since I first reported it here.
I agree that it is counterintuitive, but with the handy Catalog and the genius invention of minitree I had almost forgotten about it.
I guess this problem would be addressed in someway by the admin (aka Don).

Hi and welcome to the XY forums from me also!

Glad that serendipity had the answer from one of his older posts, as I didn't know it...now having XY work differently from WE like this makes it harder, in some cases, for users to convert over so having it work same could be helpful...and now we have 2+ people asking for it, right?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Rightyright, and welcome to the club! :D

Your wish makes total sense and I just changed behavior accordingly.

No, I think this is all as it should be (no time now for longer explanations, sorry).
Ohlala, I must have been in a bad mood that day...
