Exclude Folders from Size Calculation

Post by FrankBKK »

Would be great if we can exclude certain folders from file size calculations.

I have Media-Server and CCTV-Folders that contain millions of files - it takes several minutes to calculate these folder size ...

This is already possible via saving a Folder View Setting (FVS) and using this menu item:

Tools | Customize List | Show Folder Sizes

There are various ways to do it, but basically save a default FVS that has sizes enabled, then save a different specific FVS's for the locations where you don't want sizes shown with the above menu setting disabled.

Disable the following setting if you have it enabled, and let a default FVS perform the same purpose:

Configuration | General | Tree and List | List | Always show folder sizes

Alternatively (or additionally) you could just enable the folder size cache, then the long calculations you mentioned in your initial post would be infrequent:

Configuration | General | Tree and List | List | Cache folder sizes

There is a tweak to do that:

Code: Select all

v16.70.0008 - 2016-05-12 20:46
    + Show Folder Sizes: Added a tweak to exclude specific locations,
      separated by "|", from Show Folder Sizes. For example:
        ShowFolderSizesExclude=F:\Downloads|T:\
      Note that also all sub folders of those locations are automatically
      excluded.
      Note that the exclusion has no effect in these contexts:
        - Reports
        - SC foldersize()
        - Selection Stats
        - Find Files by Size
        - Menu View | Calculate Folder Sizes (Shift+F5)
