Turn off sort headers in detail view

Post by CutterKin »

How can I turn off or hide the sort headers in detail view? I am aware of the View-Sort By-Show Sort Headers in all views option, but the only view I cant seem to get rid of them in is the detail view? Am I missing something? Thanks!

Oh yeah, and while we're at it, is it possible to hide the menu bar?

In case it matters, I am down to a short list of alternative file browsers to use in my proprietary home automation setup. The ability to do these two things would settle the debate for me instantly and I would immediately become a paid user...

Open Main Menu > Help > List All Commands, and type "main menu" in the filter. You'll find this command:

Code: Select all

#1061	Miscellaneous | General Functions | Toggle Main Menu
Double-clicking this will hide the main menu.
But wait, how do you get the menubar back later?

option 1 >> enter this in the addressbar ( #xxxx are command IDs to execute any menu command from scripts)

Code: Select all

::#1061;
option 2 >> tie the command to a keyboard shortcut. (Tools > Customize Keyboard Shortcuts. You can find the command there with the Jump button)
Icon Names | Onyx | Undocumented Commands | xypcre

That's not possible. You are surely the first to ever ask for this. A column view without column headers? :eh: What's your plan?

Well, a detailed explanation would be long and interesting to exactly nobody, so I'll spare you that... But in my particular usage scenario, XYplorer would be used only to navigate through various collections of batch files, text files, pictures, movie files, vbs scripts, etc using a 5 button remote control from across the room. My requirements for the browser that does this are really only that it has the ability to use very large custom fonts (currently I'm using Arial Bold, 36pt, yellow on a black background) and that all the superfluous items on the screen (menus, etc) can be hidden. All that needs to be presented is this list of files that are navigated with up/down arrows and the enter key. I know that means the mighty XYplorer is being reduced to a glorified file picker, but it seems to work right for me except for the ability to hide the column headers that I have no need for. All I need/want to see on the screen is the list of filenames and their modification dates. With a font that large, the sort headers are nothing more than a big useless grey stripe across the top of the screen with "Name" and "Modified" consuming about 5% of the valuable screen real estate for no reason. Being able to hide it in the same way that the friendly poster above showed me how to do with the menu bar would make XYplorer perfect for my needs.

I hope that explains it well enough. Any chance this could be added in some future version?

Absolutely sufficient explanation. I like this kind of stuff. The Blade Runner approach to technology, radical customization, functional recycling, abuse. I will add it to the next version (if only as a tweak).

OK, the current beta version has it. See viewtopic.php?f=1&p=150609#p150609

Sorry, been busy...

(Actually, at first I was just stopping by the main page waiting for the next version once you said it would be added. Took me a couple days to figure out that you had already incorporated it into a beta. Guess I'm not used to that kind of lightning quick service...)

Anyway, I have downloaded and tested the beta & it works for me! And as I promised, I just became a paid user (name D_____ S___).

And BTW, the PayPal purchase link took me to a page that (I think) was in German, so I used Fastspring. Just FYI in case it is supposed to be language aware.

Oh, that should not happen. It is supposed to detect the language of the user system. :eh:

Can others confirm this issue? Just leave the option at "PayPal" and click the Buy Now button (you don't have to buy ;)):

The landing page at PayPal should be in your language.

This is not a simple thing Don, the behavior is heavily influenced by the geolocation database that
paypal uses. E.g. connected to VPN exit point in CZ, the landing page is displayed in english here

Switching off the VPN leads to a landing page with NL language and no, I'm not from the Netherlands...

Cookies (if you've manually switched the language before) can also be a factor

OK, thanks. So let's just assume that the customer can read that page in most of the cases...
