New to XYplorer, have 5 questions, nicely illustrated.

Hi,

I've been replacing many file mgers since the DOS days and thru all versions of W7 Pro which I'm using now.
Recently I've had a difficult time finding a good one, then... I found XYplorerFree v14.30.0300, I'm gobsmacked.

But I need some help understanding & getting it configured the way my busineess needs it to be.
That's why I coming to you guys to get me started before I Purchase a copy. I realize some of the many options are not in the free version.

I'm uploading a 5 question (scratch Q3 as I solved it in 5a) in a nicely illustrated format. Took me quite a while.
If you wouls please look it over & provide some how-to answers.

1. is it possible to split the toolbar into two toolbars, centered?
2. how do I change the text color to black? [filelist; rows are in red text]
3. how do I remove item count from the size column?
4. how to I remove shading of text? [tree pane; some of the destinations have different background and foreground colors]
5. is there a detailed PDF with illustrated instructions? I downloaded the 600+ page pdf, however it's just too tedious & contains too many arcane descriptions.

1. sorry, no. You only get one long, WRAPPABLE and DRAGGABLE toolbar.

3. you have solved this. But actually those item counts are hidden if you uncheck "Show item count with folder size", that is the option above the one pointed out in the graphic.

4. see 2. Open Tools > Configuration > Color filters. Uncheck "Enable Color filters". If this step doesn't obliterate the rainbows, you may also have activated INSTANT color filters which is independent of that setting. In this case, find and toggle off this toolbar button.

5. No, that hefty PDF, the help file supplied with the app, and this forum, are all you got. You can click the help button or F1 in most dialogs and textboxes to open the relevant user guide page. By the way, the property tab is the name for a XYplorer feature, not the property sheet in the graphic, which is actually provided by Windows.

After a while of using XY and a healthy dose of userguide consultation, you'll naturally learn many more of XYplorer features and what they are called, and where to find them, and how to ask them to make some coffee, or whatever.

Thanks for the tips, they worked.

Just 2 more questions.

As you can see I'm able change folder Icons with a color or a folder Icon with 3rd part apps.
Example the folders with the blue dots indicate that I have moved those files from a 2tb drive to a 3tb drive.
The colored folders indicate I haven't moved the but the titles do. Then I can move them to a special partition on my 6 partition W7 pc.
I won't miss those colors.
1: Is there any way I can do something like this in XYplorer?


2: Also from TREE & LIST I selected "show folder sizes" and "show folder size on properties tab" obviously to no avail. What am I missing?

I come up with these little "helps" because I being called away from my data mgmt work to solve other peoples complex problems from PC's, mechanical,
financial, medical, pharma, SS & Medicare, Insurance, Investments, political, economics, internet & info mgmt,
even odd subjects like custom bike building, astronomy, high end audio, etc.
Sometimes when I have 2-6 things going on simultaneously in various physical locations I miss things sometimes.

Thanks, I'm almost there and it only took me 4 hrs. Now that I have XYplorer functioning as I need it to,
where do I have to go to do the "smart thing" like save the settings so if MS crashes my PC or other disasters?

I think I found it? Is this the file I need to backup: XYplorer.ini in orderto save all settings so I can standardize XYplorer across my 2 PC's?

The website itself is also a fantastic source of information and includes many screenshots (though with XY's rapid development pace they do fall behind).

The feature list found at http://www.xyplorer.com/product.php#features or http://www.xyplorer.com/features.php includes links (the blue or pink arrow icons) for just about every feature. Most of these link to the release page for when the feature was introduced or enhanced, but there are also links to the Highlights or Tour pages that get a little more detailed.


Another hint, searching the forum can sometimes leaves you wanting so we highly recommend using Google's (or your favorite engine's) site: keyword. Just include site:xyplorer.com/xyfc to your query like so: site:xyplorer.com/xyfc awesome features


Lastly, the forum already shows your username next to your posts, so there's really no need to include your signature as well.

Re #5: You can also get a nice summary of features by just exploring the website...
For example the feature comparison table here http://www.xyplorer.com/product.php#overview has all of those blue arrows. The arrows go to nice summary pages with screenshots.

Don keeps a good update log in the BETA Versions For Download thread, here on the forums. But the updates happen so frequently that I'm not able to always keep up. The "What's new" page though, has a nice summary of features added, along with screenshots and examples of what the feature might be used for.
