Nice try Jacky, really gave me a chuckle...jacky wrote:Go!
Oh wait, you meant by others maybe....
But I'm with you guys on this one. I say Go! as well, makes XY more predictable, me thinks.
I know. However, in this case I let the OS do the rename-on-collision, and it does not tell me the new namejacky wrote:hmm... okay little wish about that one: it would be great if if worked for "Copy of..." files too, as in when you Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V some file(s) (or D&D for that matter) in the same folder.
Excellent, now Don's creating my wishes before I even have to voice themadmin wrote:I know. The only solution, and maybe better anyway, would be if XY does the renaming itself (and follows the user's settings for this as stated in the PostfixNum key; hell, I have to lift this key to the config dialog!).
So so, hear hear! And what part of it is it that is not perfect?lukescammell wrote:It isn’t perfect, but with the kind of motivation and determination that is behind it, it may get there one day.
Shall I list all my existing wishes and some new ones I haven't thought through properly yet?admin wrote:So so, hear hear! Actually that's where I found XY in the first place, so it seemed fair to call Alex on his bashing of all file managers mentioned there, as he *still* hasn't posted what this miracle perfect file manager that he's discovered is.admin wrote:PS: but thanks for mentioning XY there! The curious thing is that Mr. King does not recognize that XY is exactly what he is looking for, and even is not what he is not looking for(*). He seems to 100% share the XY philosophy but does not note it.lukescammell wrote:Actually that's where I found XY in the first place, so it seemed fair to call Alex on his bashing of all file managers mentioned there, as he *still* hasn't posted what this miracle perfect file manager that he's discovered is.admin wrote:PS: but thanks for mentioning XY there! Yes, when the OS does the autorename to avoid a collision, i cannot do it because the OS does not tell me about the new name.jacky wrote:hmm you're a little late my friendSteadyhands wrote:Go!!
AFAIK it only does not work (for now?) when copy/pasting on the same folder (with autorename "Copy of...")admin wrote:Ok, I went!
