Here's a couple of other ideas for visual indicator that hopefully shouldn't be too objectionable (but unsure if technically possible):
1) Different font for location -or-
2) Location in italics -or-
3) Underlined location as Search Results is -or-
4) Prefix location with literal such as "Dflt: "

There definitely should be some way to recreate the default tab should it be deleted, and also an option to use a default or not, IMHO.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

here are my thoughts about those:
1/ yeah, why not...
2/ i'm not really for it. I usually found Italic on interface to be kinda ugly, and wasting space (ie. i won't have as much seen as with regular font; and my default tab is/will be the one I use most, in a way, so I really don't wanna "loose" any space)
3/ Underlined isn't like SR, it means the tab is locked ;) (and little lower & dotted underline means home locked)
4/ same as 2: I really don't wanna loose space (for tab's location)

Well, if as I imagine it's a "flag" one can set to the tab of his choice, you can set it & unset it as you want all day long ;) And if you close the default tab, you can obviously reset any tab to default!

Yes, Maxthon has this also (along with locked tab aswell). When the limit is reached and one try to open a new tab, instead there's a popup stating that the maximum number of tabs allowed has been reached (and where to change it also I think).
I have to come back to this (taking up some loose ends after that little UNICODE diversion...): currently there's no message if the limit is reached and any tab can be overwritten (= is not locked). Would it be better to do like Maxthon and pop a message instead of simply overwrite a tab???
(I don't limit my tabs so I don't have any experience here.)

PS: default tab will come...

I don't limit my tabs either, as I have a whole bunch of locked/homezoned ones and every now and then close all that aren't, but that suggestion of the warning popup makes sense in my book.

"You have reached your specified tab limit"
1: Overwrite last tab
2: Increase tab limit by one
3: Cancel

Something like that?
Used to update to the latest beta every day. Now I have children instead…

Well, I do limit my tabs on Maxthon, but I won't have a limit on XY (different usage) but, there is a major difference between XY & Maxthon's behaviors here I think: in Maxthon a tab will never be overwritten (ie. not when you want to open a new tab etc)
So you could either pop a message before overwriting a tab in such a case, to explain what will (or not) happen, but if someone happen to be in that situation a lot it'll probably get annoying.
I'd say just state (I mean in the help) that this is how it goes, and no popup untill the limit is reached and e're blocked (no unlocked tab found), or make it an option (eg. Use unlocked tab when opening new tab but max tabs limit is reached)

And that one I'll use ;)

I think luke's suggested options make sense, with option 1 being preselected as default...

Exactly. I tried some messages but it got annoying very fast. So I stick to the way it is and explain it in the help file.
