So, what do you think of the new 6 key navigation?

Ok, it is not my question, but I like it very much. However, sometimes it is hard to navigate in Folder&Files mode, because the folders are among the files, sorting mixed.

6KN is really nice. However I don't feel like it's a "Clickable Breadcrumb" enough (Just found out Q-Dir has it too. Just set the address bar to modern mode). But at the same time, 6KN is great. Aaaargh I don't know.

Clickable breadcrumbs will come. 6KN is just a cool alternative, takes less space and is totally keyboard-driven. Clickable breadcrumbs, of course, is a mousy interface.

Very true. 6KN is really keyboard friendly. Just hit Ctrl+Alt+A and then start playing with 6KN to go anywhere on your computer.

I joined the forum mainly to tell you to add bcrumb navigation sooner,as it's like a flower without fragrance without this feature.
Within how many days will it come, approx ?

You'd prefer folders on top? Files on top?

Folders on top, not according to the mode name "Files and folders". (However; could it be meaningful as well?) The reason: in the first step I drill down to the folder (6KN) then narrow down the files by letters.

And an additional thing which I feel a bit uncomfortable, as I started to use 6KN very seriously. When I use CTRL+Left and CTRL+Down to get to an upper level, and I want to press some letters to narrow the autocomplete list down, the letters will be inserted and the path name will be invalid. Do you have any idea how to improve that I could start the filtering immediately by pressing a letter?

Example: going up to the Documents folder then trying to filter with the letter "w" (to go to the Word folder easily): D:\Documents\wExcel\Private\Services

If you had an improvment here it would be appreciated. (Now I have to think in advance, delete folders by CTRL+Backspace, or use SHIFT+End then Del to delete the last part of the path.)

Of course! Totally right! I wonder why I did not make it like that right away.

Folders on top is the expected order for most users I think.

Almost, almost. :) After select a file, CTRL+Enter doesn't run the file or go to the place of the file, but first it closes the auto-complete dropdown, then pressing the buttons again activates the desired function.

Yes, CTRL+Enter has different functions when the list is dopped and when it's not dropped. Can't do anything.

Code: Select all

Ctrl+Up: Close match list (no action).
Ctrl+Enter: Close match list (no action).
Enter: Close match list, go to location or open file.
Ok, I have found the explanation. I just don't really understand why CTRL+Up isn't enough to close.

Ctrl+Enter is used for many years now in all XY dropdown lists to close the list without action. I cannot change it anymore.
