Moving File (1) Between Panes Freezes

Post by unix »

I downloaded a file, roughly 11MB in size, and attempted to move to another directory (left pane to right pane) and XYplorer freezes on me. Attached is the screen capture of the active window. I've hit CANCEL but nothing happens, currently, XYplorer is not responding.

C:\Users\Me\Downloads => C:\Users\Me\mySoftware\Portable\

After a long wait, I click on the X to exit the "moving file" window, then the attached window (below) appears. I make certain I exited XYplorer completely, restart the application, exit again and re-open, then attempts to move the same file again. Again, XYplorer freezes on me. I've performed this same function many times yesterday and today, with one file, many files, and it was fine.

I've exited XY completely. Only uses one tab per pane and the file moves just fine, whereas, I had multiple tabs on each pane when moving file freezes. I just started using multiple tabs with dual panes today and not yesterday. Maybe this will add more clues on why XY freezes.

I think I figured it out. Had I read through all the FAQs at the website, it would have help sooner. It seems the more tabs I opened between the two panes, the more/harder MS Security Essentials scan. Hence, causing sluggishness and then freeze. If I have one tab on each panes then it's fine. So it seems the more tabs spawn in XY the more MSSE scans, the "exclude" helps with this. I'll keep an eye out for sluggishness after this exclusion.

Especially if you exclude "XYPlorer.exe" and "XYCopy.exe" as applications.

I don't see how the number of tabs could be possibly related to this, but if it helps... :mrgreen:

I'm thinking if each tab is in a different directory, MSSE scan XYplorer.exe and the files in those particular directory, i.e. scanned the process and its managed files.

That's exactly why you should exclude the two XY exe's from scanning...

In XY only the opened tab is browsed. The background tabs do not exist in memory or wherever. They are just bookmarks if you like.
