Just to inform those who have not checked the roadmap recently that XYplorer 64-bit has been moved to next year.

Just a FYI: the latest version of Delphi has been released. The Professional version and up, support 64-bit support.

Is that relevant, given that XY is coded in VB?

Hopefully not; having a suitable 64-bit VB compiler become available, would take away the least from Don's time and effort. It's possibly a plan B, in the sense that Delphi/Pascal's RAD credentials seem much better than C++ while having the speed and full API access required, unlike .NET.

Well the earliest requirement for a 64-bit version that I could find dates back to 3.5 years ago -- there could be one earlier that eluded me -- so it has been simmering for quite some time. While I am not dying it for it, postponing for at least another year doesn't sit well with me :(

Pure curiosity: do you know of others besides PureBasic and RealBasic?
Yes.
• Which?
• Can you reference a release date expectation for any VB6 x64 compiler?

What does
cloc .
return? I.e. how much code is the program?

In a case study the vb6 to .net conversion time (with the help of VB Migration Partner) was 260 loc/h. Would that be an acceptabla rate for xyplorer? What conversion rate would be acceptable?

How much code was the program when the .net beta was released in 2000-11? Would it have been beneficial to convert to .net at that time?, or at the rtm time 2002-02?

Thanks!

Roughly 200,000 loc. Effort not acceptable. Also .net not acceptable.

I, for one, am looking forward to that 64bit version. Getting tired of using MS explorer where I can access my 64bit antivirus and malwarebytes program in the shell. Been waiting a year now!!

It's 2013, albeit 1-day :-) how goes the 64-bit version of XYplorer? I'm looking forward to this as well.

Is Microsoft not releasing a 64-bit compiler for Visual Basic? I'm guessing Visual Studio 2010/2012 contains a 64-bit compiler or an option to do as such?
