XY on Twitter

ok, so the current hot topic in the US media is Twitter...now some of you overseas may not be as familiar with it but it's worldwide...and since XY didn't have a 'presence' there, i created an ID and set it up to use as aux method to blog to stay in touch with new/potential/existing users...not sure exactly how I/we can use this but wanted to make sure any new worthwhile possible method of publicizing XY could be taken advantage of...seems that everyone is doing it these days!

I started this ID also to make sure that no ID squatters took posession of it...It was via the alternativeto.net site that I saw the need for it as that site can show any "tweets" related to the product.

BTW, Twitter is what is known as a micro-blog in that msgs can only be 140 chars at most, and others can see msgs unlike email...you can "follow" or subscribe to a particular ID to be keep informed of any new posts, known as "tweets".

I/we probably should have done it long ago but the media buzz here is going nuts about Twitter...Oprah and Ashton Kucher and CNN and such...here's what they say in the acct confirm setup email:

The New York Times calls Twitter "one of the fastest-growing phenomena on the Internet." TIME Magazine says, "Twitter is on its way to becoming the next killer app," and Newsweek noted that "Suddenly, it seems as though all the world's a-twitter."

We need to take advantage of these new "social media" methods to make sure no unwanted folks get an ID that might lead to confusion but also to make XY shows up in more places on the web.

It seems that the Twitter feed has gone silent. There have not been any new tweets since mid-January I suspect it is because JC has not had a great deal of time.

Yes...partially...but also Don was a bit hesitant to have this Twitter acct confused with an "official" acct...we had some conversation via PM back then but no action resulted...I had suggested that Don take over the acct and make it "official" which would be fine with me.

Shame that it's neither here nor there. I was going to offer my help in driving it forward. It's a good method of engaging with existing and potential customers that will only become more important with increasing proliferation of devices and platforms that support this social network.

I agree that it's valuable and I really DO feel bad that I've let it slide ...I'm leaving tomorrow from FL to MA for the summer so will be out-of-touch for a while...but when I have a chance, I may try to catch it up a bit...and then maybe see if Don will 'adopt' it?

Yes, probably right. I will take over the acct if jc still agrees with this.

Perhaps it's JC's work as well. The last update to that group is around mid-January too. I think it would be good to consolidate and make a big push on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in line with launch of v10.

I won't stop you! I really have no time for this, nor even the skills. No facebook here, call me mad but I prefer paperbooks, at least when my fingers bleed from too much guitar.

I strongly disagree!

I use FB daily and it helps me keep up with various news sources as well as with long time friends in-between phone calls or emails..

And given that FB has over half a billion users, they all can't be "evildoers"...it's a great way to market a company as many people now search FB instead of the web.

No, the FB acct was a surprise to me as well...have no idea who created it...I will take responsibility for the fact that my blog and Twitter fell behind...

And the Twitter shouldn't take much to maintain...one 140 char max 'sentence' every time a official release occurs is the main thing.
