Contextual menu doesn't include all System items

Post by djomphe »

When I right-click on files/folders, many of the items I would see in Explorer are not part of XYplorer's contextual menu.

If there's nothing XYplorer can do to fix this, I would expect, at the very least, to have on the right-click menu, as the first choice, an option to open a view on this file/folder in Explorer. Such an option is available on folders (open), but not on files, which obliges me to find the file's containing folder before I can get it opened in Explorer.

Is there anything I'm missing, or anything I could do to fix this workflow issue? Thank you

Welcome,

First things first, what items are missing?

Have you read this: http://www.xyplorer.com/faq-topic.php?id=ctx64 ?

Hi and welcome to the XY forums!

Two possible things to look at for this somewhat common query:
Are you using a 64bit OS? http://www.xyplorer.com/faq-topic.php?id=ctx64
Alternatively, look at http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6043

And two other threads to look at: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6029
http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5824

A search using "context menu" may find others but hopefully those will help you get started.

UPD: I see that our other very helpful poster, zer0, already replied with one item while I was typing but my other links may prove useful as well.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Thank you. While waiting to (probably) buy the 64 bit version, I'll probably peruse the

Code: Select all

CEA_ListRightClickOnWhite=1
option.

Sorry that my search prior to posting this question yielded no results : contextual. :/

Yes, sometimes the best terms to use for searching here may not be obvious...I've collected a nbr of them in my browser pull-down over time and also having read XY forums for years, have some ideas on what words are used most often.

Glad that we were able to help! 8)

That said, a simple google search would have yielded what I was searching for in the first 10 results:

Code: Select all

site:www.xyplorer.com contextual menu
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=c ... nu&qscrl=1

I'm increasingly learning that I should always use google over site-specific search engines. I think I've just found a very nice Chrome extension to allow just that :

The one problem is that a lot of information and particularly its context, is contained in the forums, which aren't indexed by Google. That's where searching skills like j_c_hallgren's come in: the forum search functionality isn't up to Google's, unfortunately.
