Checking for XYplorer Updates

Post by JoyceAE »

It would be nice if there was an option for this software to check for updates on Startup. That way I would know when new updates are available. Otherwise, As it is, I forget to check on a regular basis and end up being behind a couple of versions by the time I remember. Most software has this feature as an option nowadays. If it already exists, could someone point me to where the option is?

Thanks,
Joyce

Hi, Joyce.
Perhaps combining this method to launch scripts at XY startup and Jacky or Serendipity scripts to update XY may be of help.
-be sure to read the posts as much as possible and use the dependencies properly as indicated.

This response is one option. However, if I don't check my e-mails on a regular basis then I wouldn't see this. I was hoping that there would be an option within the software itself when I launch the application.

Hmmmmm... perhaps this version of zer0's link might be better for reading latest updates.
EDIT: no go? Strange... Scratch that... Perhaps this hint might be of real help, regarding beta/forum updates.

When Custom Event Actions (CEAs) land, you will be able to run "Help / XYplorer on the Web / Check for Updates #711" upon launch.

Just curious...are you referring to "Official" vers only as some do, or Beta updates? Because Official vers are usually once a month, and Beta updates are often on daily basis, though not always...and if you're interested in Beta vers, then I'd suggest visiting this forum daily if you don't susbcribe to email update of that thread.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

You mean you can't have a script that does it automatically for you when you publish the update?
