the system cannot find the path specified...

Post by zebulon3 »

Hi!
I have a small problem with XYplorer on my windows 7:a window appears "the system cannot find the path specified " when I reach the "computer" level in the tree (see pic). Is there a way to avoid this annoying message?

Strange! :? Did you maybe rename your Computer node or something? Can you reproduce this after a Windows reboot?

Welcome,
Don

hi Don!

Yes, I rebooted my pc many times. I also reinstalled the program but it's still there as soon as I reach the "computer" level. Should I maybe delete some configuration files somewhere?...

In the bottom right-hand corner of that screenshot, I notice that a slash is present after "Computer". Can you please expand the screenshot so we can see the full extent of the information provided?

Yes, the backslash after "Computer" should not be there, and it can explain the screenshot. But nothing can explain the backslash. Total mystery.

Is there anything unusual about your computer or your system settings?

Well, I reinstalled Windows from scatch on the "C" drive and the XY program was installed on the "D" drive in the old windows version. I think I clicked on the XYplorer.exe from the "D" drive before installing it on "C" the regular way. It must have written something somewhere. I'll try to find out. Maybe uninstalling and delete all references to XYplorer in the register?...

I don't think installation has any meaning here.
You can run XY as portable from e.g. a USB-stick on any system - and it should function correct, without respect to Win7, Vista, XP (or W2k).

If this would not be the case I would be a bit disappointed.

When you right-click the MyComputer node, do you get the correct context menu?
