I'm afraid GMail Drive uses Windows functionality that is not yet supported (though planned) by XYplorer. For now, you'll need to use Windows Explorer to access the GMail Drive functionality.

As a workaround, you could try creating a button/User Defined Command with the following code:

run "explorer.exe /e,C:\GMail"

replacing "GMail" with the proper GUID for it, i suppose. (can't reproduce it properly once I don't use GMail, sorry)

I've tried several different things and it just goes to "My Documents"

I found a solution - Uninstall GMail Drive and get a free Dropbox account. Shared folder appears in XY and it works great!

Tom, this is not a solution per se. It does not solve OP's problem of being able to access GMail Drive's contents. Instead of a user switching to a different service, it would be preferable for XYplorer to be able to show such a non-drive device. Thankfully, such is planned under Support for Non-Drive Devices roadmap entry.

It's not always necessarily a good thing that a user switches to another service. The more people do it, the less incentive there is for Don to add support for non-drive devices, I wonder how many think of that

But the majority of non-drive device requests that I've seen here over time relate to local hardware such as cameras that don't have any alternative as easy as this so there is still plenty of demand for it, I'm sure...and thus incentive for Don.

Using an Explorer is an alternative and one that Don hasn't been afraid to whip out on a number of occasions.

So a significant number of us should be running XY in Windows 98 just to ensure Don has incentive to keep it supported? And that number should be equivalent to the number running Windows 7, and equivalent to the number running a super secret pre-alpha version of Windows 8, so that Don has equal incentive to support the dying, the current, and future technologies.


Now in this particular case, I've noticed fewer and fewer non-drive devices, and not a lot of demand for access to the other special locations that should become accessible if Don were to add support. I would hope Don adjusts his priorities to match. (Adjusts - not eliminates from the roadmap.)

Not exactly. It depends what's more important/possible/better: using a service or using a service through XYplorer.

I seemed to have opened up a can of worms here.

Let's see - I tried out a program that wasn't compatible with XY. I posted on the forum for help and found it wasn't yet supported. No big deal. So, rather than wait for Don to be "incentivised" to add functionality, I went and found an alternative solution. One that happens to better meet my needs and be compatible with XY. Its a natural progression.

I posted a followup back here to help others in the same situation. But, then get nailed for not being technically correct with my choice of words. Get a grip. This is a HELP forum.

I don't see what the big deal is.
