List Management
In the interest of both consistency and uniformity "List Management" really ought to include "Manage Folder Views".

Re: List Management
Without diving too deeply into etymology, do you not consider the conditions and variable choices assigned to designated folders a list of items?
When that puppy is opened up the Window has the same look and feel of the other Lists! If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, etc...

Re: List Management
I suspect there's something else behind the scenes that is linked to it that makes it incompatabile with LM but I'm not 100% sure.aurumdigitus wrote:Without diving too deeply into etymology, do you not consider the conditions and variable choices assigned to designated folders a list of items?
Not quite...LM windows always have "Editor Mode" (AFAIK) and this doesn't.When that puppy is opened up the Window has the same look and feel of the other Lists!
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Re: List Management
Perhaps Don thought that, with FVS being a distinctive feature on its own, having a one location for all FVS needs is the best way to go. The help file does say that the usual List Management interface would show, which could be an argument in your favour as much as it can be indicative of Don already having thought about it.
On a related note, with very limited management possible, I wonder if it having a menu and a window has merit. Yep, you can tell that I don't use FVS

Re: List Management
Using 9.40.10 and "Manage Folder Views" most definitely has an Edit Button - albeit to edit the name not the folder settings per se.

Re: List Management
Note that I did not say "Edit" button but "Editor Mode" which are two separate things...MFV has Edit but still may not be compatible with LM Editor Mode, ok?aurumdigitus wrote:Using 9.40.10 and "Manage Folder Views" most definitely has an Edit Button - albeit to edit the name not the folder settings per se.

Game, Set, Match - you win. Was swept up in the "irrational exuberance" of making yet another suggestion. Not the worst fault a man could have.j_c_hallgren wrote:Note that I did not say "Edit" button but "Editor Mode" which are two separate things...MFV has Edit but still may not be compatible with LM Editor Mode, ok?

Re: List Management
Also, I didn't really say that it was a completely bad suggestion, but that there may be some behind-the-scenes reasons for not doing so that we may not be aware of...but the one reason I could see easily visible was that difference in buttons available, and that by itself might negate the idea.aurumdigitus wrote:Game, Set, Match - you win. I'm not generally a FVS user either so I don't need to access it and thus never paid any real attention to it until you posted this thread.
Keep on looking for ideas on how to improve XY and don't let this impede ya, ok?
