7-zip context menu missing
XYPlorer is not showing the context menu for 7-zip. I'm supposing that's the typical 32/64-bit thing? But, does anyone have specific advise on getting the 7-zip extension to work (or supplying a native XY configuration to do the same job)?

Please do a simple search before starting a new thread that is SO similar to http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5179
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

There is a "Search..." box in the upper right corner. Using it, I get,j_c_hallgren wrote:Please do a simple search before starting a new thread that is SO similar to http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5179
That's still true, even with this thread present. So, don't admonish me for not doing a "simple search" when the simple search is clearly broken.Information
No posts were found because the word 7-zip is not contained in any post.

Re: 7-zip context menu missing
Sorry, but I guess I'm just more familar with phpBB searching so I used the terms "zip context menu" to find it...I usually specify to search "only first post" to reduce it to various threads if needed after doing a more general one...sometimes one has to adapt search strings to what forum software allows and it can still work quite well.JDługosz wrote:That's still true, even with this thread present. Re: 7-zip context menu missing
In any case, the referenced thread's details on 7-zip was helpful, and I used the same technique for another product with the same issue: Locate the shell extension DLL used in explorer, find the corresponding 32-bit version (either a different installer package, or different file or same name but different internal subdirectory of the single installer), extract it with a different name, and register it.
I suggest that be pointed to by the FAQ, or the FAQ extended to include this information.
(I also point out that you can discover the dll used by using Sysinternals Process Explorer or Autoruns)
Perhaps a forum folder for "shell extensions" would be handy -- a single place to look for advice on getting specific shell extensions to work, or tips for using them even more effectively with XYplorer.
