Ok..what am I missing in this folder exclude using wildcard?

Must be one of those

"duh" days...I want to ignore any IE temp files by any user so I have this as Exclude...but it doesn't do it:

C:\Documents and Settings\*\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\

What simple thing am I overlooking?

Well!! I can definitely relate to that! I've done the same thing! User asked why it didn't quite work right...found that I'd just stub-ed out the code but never finished it...

Actually I'm a bit depressed that this bug went unseen for such a long time. What kind of user base is that?!

The wildcard char for "one or more of any char" in a file location is "?", correct?
Because in http://www.xyplorer.com/xed/findfiles.htm there are some other values shown...or is that strictly for RegEx? Or???
Just wanting to make sure we're all on the same mindset!

No, "?" is exactly one (any) char. "one or more of any char" does not exist, only "zero or more of any char" (*).
Your link points to the correct rules under "Pattern Matching Special Characters".

I used the wrong char in my last post! Sorry! Let's try again!

What I meant to say was that in a wildcard for a path, should I wish to include all values for a particular level (such as "user"), I would use the "*"...fine...but in XED, it appears to say "+" for that usage.

Just made some experiments. Result: Hey, enlarge your browser's font size!

It only looks like a "+"!

Ok!
I normally run in IE with text size = 'smaller' on LCD laptop at 1024x768...I never had seen before that it would show a totally diff char at that size! It was a bit small on certain web pages (like that one) but readable...so now I'll know to explode it to next size before making any critical decisions, forum comments, etc. Thanks!!!

Maybe you could tweak that web page (if still valid) to use a larger font?

Well, a pixel is a pixel. In the meantime, I enlarged the font

I see that you enlarged the font for the critical chars on that page, but I'd personally make the entire page in a font that is generally non-bold but about the same size as the changed items...

Also, on that XED page, you have a link to MS for RegExp descrip, but MS has moved that page...since I'm not 100% sure just what page it was intended to be, maybe there is another subsitute place to find same info?

BTW: You also have link to same missing/moved MS page from the Help-FindFiles page.

Thanks for the dead link reports. MS links have a short life span. I removed them.
