Actually I'm thinking about a German version and this pronunciation, maybe even the spelling!, will rocket me into the German market. Thanks, tschief promoter!tux. wrote:German. "Ix-Üpsilon-Plorer".

Yes, I found a surprisingly (shocking actually!) strong resistence in Germany against the non-German interface (only topped by the resistence of French folks, of course). And since I speak German putting out a German version would be fairly easy for me.tux. wrote:admin wrote:Actually I'm thinking about a German version![]()

Not all computer users are able to speak English. I can't see a reason for globalization on my own computer either. So what's "shocking" here?

Re: How do you pronounce XYplorer?
I think English is THE language for software. A translation to German, while possible, will be rather clumsy and packed with anglicisms anyway. And as I said, there are only two countries in the whole wide beautiful world that again and again ask me for a version in their language: France and Germany. I find this surprising because Germany is not such a bad place to learn English.tux. wrote:Not all computer users are able to speak English. Be careful. Such statements may awaken folks who have long been asking for multi-language interface in XYplorer. I wouldn't have thought Deutschland isn't the only country in the world with such resistanceadmin wrote:Yes, I found a surprisingly (shocking actually!) strong resistence in Germany against the non-German interface (only topped by the resistence of French folks, of course). Re: How do you pronounce XYplorer?
German is also a country with a very beautiful, mighty language; unlike English which might be commonly used because it is easy ("add an s, that's the plural") but does not sound well.admin wrote:I find this surprising because Germany is not such a bad place to learn English.
Why should I want to learn English just to be able to navigate through my own files?

(Just for the records: The most common language in the EU is German.)
People who can't speak English will use (any buy) something different instead.admin wrote:To be able to use XYplorer.
xplorer², for example.

Re: How do you pronounce XYplorer?
Personally, I'd spell the pronounciation "ex-wipe-lorrer."
