2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

New XYplorer app icon bug

Post by zer0 »

In Win 7, no matter what value I insert into the INI file the taskbar icon doesn't change -- it shows the default blue-to-green plectrum. Aero Sneak Peek and top left-hand corner icon changes though...see below.

In my experience, start menu shortcuts you pin to the taskbar get copied rather than referenced, meaning any changes made to the start menu shortcut do not propagate to the shortcut on the taskbar. It made for some additional hair loss when I tried to figure out why changes I made to the start menu shortcut didn't show up in the properties of the taskbar icon, but that's neither here nor there... :P

I'd delete the tasbar icon and then re-pin it by right-clicking on the shortcut in the start menu.

I have never pinned it ;)

And here I thought I was being clever given the hour...

I can indeed reproduce this on Windows 7 x64.

Cannot reproduce this. Tried on both Win-7 32 and 64 bits. I don't know if it matters but have UAC turned off in both.

So have I, no UAC.

Another long shot, but does rebooting make any difference? I have XYplorer pinned (unlike you) and the new icon didn't show up in the taskbar until after I rebooted.

Hmmm, it shows up for me instantly.

I guess it doesn't matter any more, since Don has changed the icon yet again...

And now I am having issues trying to load a custom icon file via IconFile tweak. I provide the full path -- tried with quotes and without -- but the default "Black Orange" icon still loads :(

Still no luck with this one gents -- taskbar icon, Sneak Peek icon and Title bar icon are all refusing to change. If it helps, the tweak is as follows

Code: Select all

IconFile=C:\Program Files (x86)\XYplorer\Icons\Iconsxyapp.ico
Said ICO file has 2 icons in it -- 16x16 and 32x32, both in 32-bit colour.

Works fine here. Might be the OS, or the icon file (you can send it to me so I can test it).

On XP that is, right? Works on XP here also. No go on Win 7 though. Clutching at the straws: could brackets in ICO file's path be screwing things up? :?

No, I don't think so.

When you look at the default icon in your top-left window corner (or in the taskbar), does it have alpha transparency? (Just checking whether certain icon-defining functions work at all under W7...)
