Toolbar wishes

I've been having lots of fun with the Toolbar, so I'm in a good position to ask for a few improvements. Here goes...

1. "Customize Toolbar" button - I found it surprising that this button was missing. Given, toolbar's config is only a couple of clicks away, but so is the main "Configuration" dialogue. Please give us this button. With CTBs, the Toolbar will play an even bigger role in XYplorer, so an extra-quick way of getting to the config screen will be appreciated.

2. Be able to sort "Available buttons" in alphabetical and reverse alphabetical order - adding and removing buttons from TB can create a mess and, with more buttons on the horizon, it's be great to get the house in order, if you know what I mean. Incidentally, it'd also be super if we could choose whether to sort UDCs by their number of CKS' precedence.

3. Instant preview of large icons - not every icon's large version is a larger version of its little brother. Example of such are "Refresh" and "Save Settings" buttons. It's be nice to see this, so people can check out the larger versions without having to commit it. Side question: with CTBs, will we be able to use our own versions of small and large versions or if you add one it will auto-scale as the other?

4. Changelog in "Save Settings" button's context menu - sometimes tweaking even the slightest part of XY will prompt the button to change from green to brown. However, remembering all those tweaks is no small task, so it'd be really useful to see a list of changes that you're about to commit. This will allow one to see if he/she really wants to commit a particular change or not, so once it's committed one can undo it straight away if it's not desired. Currently, the only visual indication of a change, besides the colour change, is an incrementing count. But if there have been 10 changes made, does that tell me what they are? Indeed it does not.

I realise that I may be coming across as a bit greedy there, but I'm also confident that all those wishes will improve other people's, let alone my, user experience with the Toolbar.

You do know that all buttons on the XY toolbar have a context menu, and they pretty much all include an item "Customize Toolbar" ? Sure it's not the same, but you don't even have to aim for one button in specific to quickly get want you want, and while it's not a one-click solution, it also doesn't waste any space on your TB!

It would be nice if the blank space on the toolbar did the same and showed "Customize Toolbar" in a context menu. As opposed to its current behavior of being extremely lazy, unhelpful, and pathetically useless although soothingly bare!

Must be nice to have blank space on TB! Given laptop size and nbr of icons I use, my AB is now only about 1 inch wide so almost useless...I'd sacrifice some vertical space to have a usable AB but only if the rest of that line could hold my overflow of TB as allocating a line for it doesn't make sense either...it's just too bad that, unlike my ole IE6, the AB can't live on the menubar line as well.

But as I recall, there are technical limitations that prevent this, right?

Yep, that's what I'm relying on at the moment. And there's no wasted space on my TB, it's only being propped up by AB because not having AB in [TB & AB] arrangement with no CTBs would be a waste of space

Seems like as good a place as any to add a couple CTB wishes and a dream...
I'm just now starting to experiment with useful custom toolbar buttons and I've got some wishes...

1) I'm finding it very very annoying that there is no way to bypass XY's right-click menu and just execute my script. For instance I have the following, and would prefer right-clicking the icon executes #400; immediately.

I'd like to see an "Auto-Fire Script on Right-Click" option or similar, but since we still need a way to get to the button's edit dialog....

2) The ability to open the edit dialog from the Customize Toolbar dialog. It seems so very odd that this cannot be done already.

3) In the future, it would be awesome if we could use all 5 standard mouse buttons + modifiers. Which would require a break from the current layout and a more list driven dialog where we could enter multiple scripts and select a mouse[+modifier] trigger for each. A single CTB could launch 40 scripts!!!! The user would be stupid to use all 40, but it would be possible!

1) And that's why the default value for such an option should be off, so that by default it's all gravy, but it provides the ability to avoid the annoying extra click which we are forced into 90% of the time as it stands today.

Okay, all well thought out, but isn't one of the nice things about a toolbar that it's such a simple interface? Normally you can just click a button and that's it. XY added right-click/context menus to buttons, and CTBs. I'm not sure if the toolbar would gain attraction by even further complications. KISS!
