Okay, valid point.

The ini tweak is a smart answer -- invisible power.

Okay, let's continue this thing.

I'd like to have a list of things people would like to forget (= not save). I will then provide INI tweaks (defaulting to SAVE) where you can switch of what you do NOT want to save.

This might later be elevated to the GUI, but currently I prefer to have it at tweak level.

Sounds good! I'll start off with a tentative list:

1. Find History

2. Rename History

3. Last file that had focus (this one is VERY important)

4. Visual/Selection Filters (I'm not sure there's a need to seperate these)

5. Navigation History, Breadcrumbs, Hotlist, etc... (these can also be combined - but I think this is what's currently covered by the UI setting to not save History)

For me, I can see where I may not want to save the complete Nav History but retain the Breadcrumbs, if that were possible, since it's a consolidated summary....so making these options discrete but not too extensive seems to be a solution.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Hmm, I wonder how many users would share these wishes. It's one of the strengths of XY that all this stuff is stored between sessions.
Maybe a simple DontSaveMRULists = 1 would suffice??

I would never turn those off unless I find a compelling reason. But maybe its time for another poll.

I could certainly live with that.

In the future, if you were feeling adventurous, you could even create a single button somewhere that would clear all histories and MRU's at that moment. That would allow users to leave everything on in general, but have an easy way to purge the histories and MRU's on an as needed basis, without needing to go to ten different List Management screens (yes, I actually counted). :)

Holy thread resurrection Batman!

With that last paragraph by Mesh, I think this tweak has been given time aplenty to mature and maybe there is a possibility for an increase in its functionality? Considering that every category in "List Management" has "Clear List", it is not beyond the reach of imagination that a user may want to clear all such traces.

Bearing that in mind, I'd like to propose 2 possible solutions to make ForgetMRU more powerful.

1. Give each menu item in "List Management" a tweak-level number (from 1-18, I counted :P) and all corresponding comma-separated values' traces would be wiped.

or

2. Keep it as it is, except for the addition of parameter "2", which would signify deletion of all stored traces upon restart.

Ahem...yes please. The end
