XYplorer freezes while copying between Tabs

Hi,

I am trying out XYplorer v8.80 on 32-bit Vista. I like its features but have run into a problem. When I copy anything from one tab to another, for the duration of the copy, the main program window is frozen. XYplorer will not allow me to do anything else. Everything returns to normal when the copy process is over.

The only way I can use XYplorer, while copying from one tab to another is in progress, is to open another instance of the program. The instance that is busy in copying remains frozen for the duration of copying.

I have checked on 32-bit WinXP running inside VMware and I did not encounter this problem there, so it is related to Vista.

Has anybody else experienced this?

Any solutions?

p.s. I have tried both checking and unchecking the option present under Tools>configuration>advanced>"File operation dialog modeless", but it has no effect for me on Vista.

Yes, this is a known issue. Please review this thread for further discussion regarding the matter: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2810 To mitigate the impact of this issue, Don (the developer) intends to create XY's own copying/moving mechanism (see roadmap: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=830 and poll: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4382). The ETA for this mechanism is unknown at this time.

Yes, it is also, currently, an issue on Windows 7 family of operating systems. Don't quote me on this, but I have a hunch that XYcopy (as it's called) will arrive with version 9.00. This hunch is based purely on the past 2 major releases bringing "big deal" features -- scripting in v7, dual pane in v8

Instead of developing a whole new copy function, why not correct the way XYplorer interacts with Vista and win 7? Since it works on XP, so it is obviously related to something in Vista and win 7 and not a fault of XYplorer per say.

Do other file managers suffer from similar problem on Vista/Win 7? If not... then the issue is probably a minor one, not something that would merit designing a whole new copy function for XYplorer.

Thats just my opinion anyway, I am sure the developers are doing everything possible to correct this.
