I am just downloaded, unpack and run (v8.80.0030, 21-jan-2010)

I see no speed problem while:

Thanks! So once more, Vista/7 breaks working code. Exciting. It's progress-in-progress I suppose.

Not as bad on XP as on Win 7. Task Manager has "00" for XYplorer.exe when nothing happens. When I scroll the tree up and down using the vertical slider bar, value starts to vary in the range of "10-30". Also, CPU usage is normally below 10%, but when scrolling in the same manner it fluctuates 15%-35%.

That also happened with older versions (and with other file managers e.g. Explorer). Scrolling is a heavy load under Windows.

Hmm not sure, my work PC is Win7 pro and I dont see any noticeable difference between .0028 and .0030. But maybe thats because I have 4gb RAM.

XY's is using 13MB memory here.

Very well, there's definitely no sluggishness that's noticeable in Win 7.

I also have 4GB, but with +/- on it's a stutter. XY is using ~10MB of RAM.

For what its worth - I just upgraded to the latest beta and running with no problems.

I do run XY with a locked tree, though.

Hmm, I have the *same* problem on my Win7 Ultimate x64 system. Turning off the tree PlusMinus also solved the CPU spikes and lag on that system.

:? I wonder what is making the difference between different Win7 systems. Maybe the GdiPlus version?

Using Process Explorer (SysInternals) I found that I'm currently using this version of GdiPlus:

GdiPlus.dll
1.748.992 bytes
13.08.2009 14:55:39
ver 5.2.6001.22319 (vistasp1_ldr.081126-1506),
C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.Windows.GdiPlus_6595b64144ccf1df_1.0.6001.22319_x-ww_f0b4c2df\

BTW: ...vistasp1...! Who put that on my XP system?

(I'm just checking how to find out programmatically the loaded GDI+ version so I can give you an easy way to see...)

Questions:

1) Could it be that those on Win7 without a problem are use Flat plus-minus icons in Configuration / Interface Colors?

2) Is the tree plus-minus icons the only problem you see?

I don't have a CPU problem with XY and "Flat plus-minus icons" is not checked

I have this for GDIPLUS. ver 6.1.7600.16385

Are you running Vista/Win7 with or without aero effects? I assume that drawing got much heavier on the CPU due to aero...

My GDI+ version: 6.1.7600.16385

The CPU spikes also seem to go away when using the flat PlusMinus, as opposed to just disabling them. I'm also running Aero.

In case it matters, HP Laptop with a GeForce Go 7400.
