If I allowed deleting them manually, the integrity of the RB would be harmed... I could easily allow it but: I don't know how much the RB can take before he gives up...

I do remember the discussions we had here about making RB read-only, and I don't disagree with that decision...I just was inquiring if you were aware of any legit way to delete it, given your vast knowledge of various products and system internals.

When looking at the thumb drive via WinExpl, it shows a RB within that drive also, but clicking on it doesn't show the files that XY reports being there.. :P
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

I can empty the RB by drive programmatically. But wouldn't that be an overkill? Who needs this apart from you?

This wish has been around for over 3 years so I would like to bump it because I would very much like to see (optionally perhaps?) Recycle Bin in XYplorer's tree.

Now that I was able to assign a CKS to prompt to empty Recycle Bin, I think the timing would be great to introduce Recycle Bin to XY's tree (maybe optionally to begin with). There really is no reason not to have it, unless it is THAT difficult to add functionality. Makes it a significant pain in the neck to have to go to it using WE if I want to see what I have deleted and maybe restore a file or two.

This wish has existed for almost 3 and a half years, it's present in Windows Explorer and with Don's recent pledge about introducing the biggies for the "common folk" there is no reason for this to be overlooked, I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to it :)

for a work-around you can create a shortcut to the recycle bin which you can open in xy to view the contents.

Yep, I can also assign a KS to #641, but it's integration within the tree that is specifically required :)

That's fine but as long as the current "internal" view will be still be available for ppl like me who want/need that to assist with determining what actually exists in the RB!

By all means, if Don can get the two to work simultaneously then superb! However, if it comes down to only be possible to have one or the other then there is a strong case to have this proposed tree integration.

While I agree that having the "user" view of RB would be convenient, losing the "internal" view would leave me with no real way to access that information, and would be a step backwards...Presently, I do have to use WE for RB but it's at least available via other means, whereas the "internal" view is only presently available via XY, AFAIK.

While I may lack appreciation of "internal" view because I have never used it, I can understand the importance of it to those who have grown used to it. This is a double-ended sword, however. I'm guessing that until XY came out you had no other way to access the "internal" view. So not having it, if that's what it comes down to and I hope it will not, won't be so much of a step backwards because you'd be loosing something you never had in the first place (before XY). On the other hand, if people are to completely replace their WE with XY, then not having RB in the tree is a step backwards because in WE it's always there by default and people are used to it.

I sincerely hope that both views can be preserved in order to accommodate as many people as possible.

Just for background info, take a look at this thread of mine from quite a while ago http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1021 which describes how I have used the present "internal" view.

Just curious. I now have the magic powers to actually add the Recycle Bin special folder to my tree as you might remember it from the old days when you still used Explorer. Anybody interested?

YES! Should be enabled/disabled via Configuration -> General and be enabled on factory default setup :D 8)
