Hello,
I've been using XYplorer a little while and it's lovely! So many things you can do with it. =)
But there is one problem - listing of files in network folders is very, very slow. A 1,000 files takes about 5 seconds to list while it takes maybe half a second when using Explorer. I've tweaked the configuration as much as I can (I've attached the config file in this post). Don't worry, I haven't registrated my version so there will be no key in the file.
Anyone have any idea what's causing this? It doesn't appear that anyone else has this problem since I tried searching the forum except this one guy, but he had issues with a local folder of EXE files and that was due to displayment of icons...
EDIT:
Removed the pasted configuration file and attached it to the post below.
Perhaps I should mention that I'm using Windows XP (32-bit).

Re: Very slow listing of files in network folders
Hello and welcome!
Instead of pasting the whole INI, it'd be better if you could ZIP the file and just upload the archive as an attachment

Re: Very slow listing of files in network folders
Oh, I can upload ZIP files? I tried everything with the config file ('txt' as extension, no extension) so I just thought "Hey, guess uploading files is something that is not desired on this forum... Wonder why they even have that option in the first place?"
Ok, here we go. Hey, it worked!

Re: Very slow listing of files in network folders
Hi & welcome gablin,
I checked your INI and did not see anything to improve. No idea what's going wrong. Most users report that XY is faster than WE in network browsing.
I hope somebody else has an idea...

Hmmm... I've also tried disabling both the firewall and the antivirus program (in case any of those were interferring), but to no avail...
Should I try reinstalling the program...?

No, reinstalling won't change anything.gablin wrote:Hmmm... I've also tried disabling both the firewall and the antivirus program (in case any of those were interferring), but to no avail...

antivirus was a good idea - pity that it did not help

Re: Very slow listing of files in network folders
Hmm... Now Explorer is just as slow as XYplorer... Perhaps that fast listing of files in Explorer was a one-time occasion because I only validated that once and at that point everything was lightning-speed. But now it's just as slow... Strange...
In any case it seems that there's nothing wrong with XYplorer. Thanks for the help anyway.

Re: Very slow listing of files in network folders
Woho! I might have cracked it!
I googled around on "windows network slow browsing" and came across a site that recommended the tweak the registry at the server:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters]
"SizReqBuf"=dword:0000ffff
After rebooting, the browsing went fast as hell! Now I don't really know whether this was due to rebooting the server or tweaking the registry, but I'm hoping for the latter. If not, at least I know the problem lies at the server (it's on 24/7 so it may get clogged for some reason... Shouldn't happen, but who knows...).
