Paste as new folder / file

Post by Stefan »

As new user, browsing "Edit > Paste Special", i miss something.
Now i know i can do this by an script (or by hand via "Edit > New xxx" and then Ctrl+V)

But still i want suggest this two new menu items:
"Edit > Paste Special > Paste as new file"
"Edit > Paste Special > Paste as new folder"

(after creating, the new item should be focused for renaming, like with "Paste Text Into New File"-option)

Maybe this is from interest for someone?

I'm curious about those two possible additions. Could you please describe a scenario when they can be useful and what would you actually be pasting?

Hi zer0

i think mostly it's useful if you wanna download an file...
- select and copy the version and release date information to the clipboard...
- use "Paste as folder" to create an new folder for the dl
and / or
- use "Paste as file" and add ".txt" to store the file description

Or copy the name of an folder/file to clipboard and use "Paste as folder/file" to create an new object in an other path.
Or f.ex. copy the name of an file and just use the shortcut of "Paste as folder" to create an new folder with that name.

P.S.
I know that advanced users would wrote an script or use two already existent commands,
but i think this commands should be there as default.
Just IMHO but i want let Don know of this idea.

What do U think? :D

In terms of downloading a file, would you downloading something other than text or images? For the rest, a browser and a download manager would suffice.
Or copy the name of an folder/file to clipboard and use "Paste as folder/file" to create an new object in an other path.
Or f.ex. copy the name of an file and just use the shortcut of "Paste as folder" to create an new folder with that name.
Sounds a bit murky to me, probably because I'm not likely to use this functionality, but I'll try to grasp it in my mind :)
