1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

Tracked Down One Cause of Runtime Error 91

Post by GreetingsFromPoland »

hi! i often get runtime error 91 object variable or block variable not set when starting XY. the app just silently quits and i can read the error in the error log that is generated. i believe i have found one cause for this. my initial PC setup was local drives C, D and E. i removed D and E from the PC and replaced them with a new D. so now it is just C and D.

in my xyplorer.ini file, i found that i had quite a few references to E:\(whatever) and that drive no longer exists. i cleaned up several of them and would still get the no-start and error; however, once i edited the StartPath setting, the app started up without any problem ! it was previously pointing to a path on the non-existent E: drive. once changed to D:, no issue.

so it would appear this error is thrown if it encounters a path that doesn't exist, especially in the StartPath entry.

Can't reproduce, there must be other factors. Can you send me your INI file?
