Hi all,
any advice for me how to convince someone to *test* XYplorer instead of current version of Total Commander ( TC )?
This person *thinks*, TC does offer more functionality than XYplorer. I have no detailed experience with TC, but doubt he might be right.
Thanks in advance and best regards
Markus
P.S.: product link (www.xyplorer.com/product.php ) would be a good start, right?

Yep, looks like a good start. Of course, what's best for everyone depends on where they come from and where they want to go.

Make that person help you smth on your PC, so there be no option other than using XY, and inevitably meeting all cool stuff.

I use both, TC since Windows 3.11 times.
Both tools have their pros and contras.
Very important for me is that both have a lifetime license.
Of course both handles normal file operations without problems.
Depending on the job, I use one of it.
For me, the main benefits of TC are
- Archive handling
- Preview for almost any file formats, not restricted to available Explorer handlers
- Folder sync, much better than XY
- Full Everything Integration
- X64
For XY I see
- Internal Scripting
- Photo handling (Hover box)
- Scripted columns
- Scripted Buttons
- Continues updates without fixed release cycles

Re: How to convince someone to *test* XYplorer instead of Total Commander?
Got my TC license in 1996. The summary by Horst matches my use.
I generally liked the idea of a better more feature rich Explorer - so I bought XYplorer to "have" it in my 'toolbox'. So I essentially convinced myself to *test* it. It took some time, with me gradually exploring the many features.
Then I discovered how it would let me manage a photo/video collection better than TC could. A bonus was I could use some of the same keyboard shortcuts that I used in TC to preform the same operations on files.
The icing on the cake was finding this... viewtopic.php?t=8691
For me, BOTH are essential now.

The "better" doesn't tackle me, but the "much".
Could you drop some more details on that?

Using dual pane all the time.
The sample screen shows the general layout.
- The arrows allow swapping the direction.
- You can select one of the pairs and get a full file compare.
- You can use stored synchronize profiles with all relevant settings.
