XYplorer freezes when copying MS Word files

I have XYplorer version version 22.30 running on Windows 11. (The problem I'm reporting has be present for the past several version of XYplorer running on Windows 10.)

I have XYplorer open with mini-tree view and with the file preview pane. If I right click an MS Word file (*.docx), right click copy, then right click paste into the same folder, XYplorer freezes. This behavior happens every time and is 100% reproducible.

The copying itself cannot cause this (it does not care which file types are copied). So I assume you should look here: https://www.xyplorer.com/faq-topic.php?id=ctxcrash

I followed the instructions at https://www.xyplorer.com/faq-topic.php?id=ctxcrash "Hiding shell extensions" did not make the problem go away. The copy of the MS Word filed appears in the window as if it copied, but XYplorer becomes completely unresponsive. According to the Task Manager XYplorer is using 100% of one processor thread.



Before I use XYplorer again, I have to manually kill all XYplorer related processes.

The utility ShelExView reveals 325 process. Checking those one at a time would be very impractical.

What if you copy by Ctrl+C and paste by Ctrl+V?

Which Office version is installed and it is reproducible with every .docx document you have?
What about the old .doc format, what about .xlsx or .pptx?

I have MS Office 365.

I have been able to confirm that disabling the Preview Windows eliminates the problem. XYplorer doesn't become unresponsive and stuck in an infinite loop if I disable the previewer and then copy an MS Word file. To me it looks like the bug is related to the previewer.

While the word preview is showing run this line thru the address bar:

When I select an MS Word file with a .docx extension and run the command "text get("previewhandler")", I get the message

Note: For some reason, I'm only having this issue with MS Word files. I can copy other file types without any problem using either right clicking on the context menu or keystroke commands like ctr+c and ctr+v. But both of those methods cause XYplorer to go into an infinite loop for docx files.

1) It only happens on paste into the *same* folder?

2) Your task manager shot shows XY64 -- it should not be there on a 32-bit preview; any idea why it's there?

3) Your task manager shot shows XYcopy, so this is a background copy operation? Do you get the same issue when copying in the foreground?

4) Do you use Custom Copy? (Configuration | File Operations | File Operations | Custom Copy Operations | Use Custom Copy)
