Please beta v21.20.0225, it should have many improvements.

Horizontal lines will come later...
Excellent improvements. I changed the zoom to 1.25 and 1.5 and both look quite fine depending one the number of buttons in the toolbar. Still "Zoom=1" is small but it is acceptable as zooming up is possible.

The main issue at the moment is the Vertical/Horizontal Grids and the Separators in the Toolbar which are not that much visible.

One more thing: The separating margin between tabs are not visible as well, which is possibly associated with the line thickness issues in 4k displays, like what we see in toolbar separator and gridlines.

One more thing: Dropdown arrows in the toolbar don't zoom in accordance to the toolbar zoom.

One more thing: The same applies to the margin of tabs in the Info Panel. At the regular view in 4k, margins are almost invisible. If I zoom the display to 300%, I'll see the margins over there, but they should to be distinctly visible in the regular view.

One more thing: In the Catalog Area, the icons next to the headers should be bigger. At the regular view in 4k, it looks like there is something inside the icons, but impossible to guess what that is. Zooming the display to 300% shows that there is a "+/-" inside the icon which correlates to the status of that heading.

I regularly don't use "Tree". I temporarily enabled it and I saw there are no icons over there at all. I believe this shouldn't be the regular behavior of tree:

Here is a comparison between 4k adjustment performed by "Application" Vs. "System-Enhanced" in the tabs bar. The overall size of the tabs bar is almost 15-20% bigger in the "System-Enhanced" adjustment which makes it much more comfortable in 4k displays. Additionally, I believe "System-Enhanced" has done a good job for the items shown with the big arrows in terms of "Better Size" with or without the "Better Location" of those items.

Icons in the tabs bar are also bigger for almost 20-30% in the "System-Enhanced" adjustment, which I believe is more preferable. This increase of 20-30% in the icon sizes also applies to the other icons in the UI (except for the toolbar which is manually zoomable).

Have you definitely not disabled these:

Tools | Customize Tree | Show Icons
Tools | Customize Tree | Show Expansion Icons

You are correct. Since I don't use the tree, I was not aware of the full options associated with that. But after enabling the "Icons" and "Expansion Icons", I should say that the issue with expansion icons persists. In the regular 4k view, it is really difficult to say if they are expansion icons.
PS: Of course the attached photo is the zoom view.

1) Are you saying the initial zoom of extra large (= 24 * 2) * 1.5 = 72x72 pixels is too high? Yes, echo 24*2.5 (250%) = 60, so the icons should rather be 60x60. I think I will go for large (24) * zoom 2.5 = 60.

2) Separators in the Toolbar are 2 pixels wide now. Still not enough?

If you download the full size images (which are all untouched in 3840x2160 pixels) and open it with an image viewer in Full Screen & Fit Image Mode, you can simulate what I can see in 4k display.

Still separators are not much identifiable in the regular view in 4k display.

60x60 is the natural size in 250% for XYplorer. I will go for that as default. If you want 72x72 you can choose Large Size and zoom x3.

Yes. The difference between 60x60 and 72x72 is the matter of personal preference and since zooming up is possible, it doesn't make any issues for anyone.

I assume because of the changes mentioned in this thread, on upgrading to the latest beta .0235 (from .0212), I noticed that my historic custom toolbar zoom level (1.1) is now no longer valid, even though it is still set in the ini file, XY now loads with no toolbar zoom active, does it now only accept certain values?

Also just noticed that setting the toolbar to Extra Large Icons, then negative zoom toolbar, then the customize toolbar dialog shows like this:

Yes, I forced it to 0.25 steps. I did not think about anybody tweaking it to something else. Sorry.
Do you think 0.25 steps is too big?

Oh, yes, gonna fix.
