Find and Quick Search are not finding DOCX

To search the contents of DOCX files XYplorer needs a so-called IFilter installed in the system that will extract the text. And it needs to be a 32-bit IFilter. Since File Locator can do the job one can conclude: File Locator is a 64-bit program which needs a 64-bit IFilter and this IFilter is installed in your system.

The source of the issue: Microsoft Office, even the 32-bit version, will install only the 64-bit IFilters when it's installed in a 64-bit system. Just another reason to use OpenOffice instead...

BTW: Your font size setting is too high hence your layout looks half-destroyed. You should instead enlarge the display resolution to 125% or 150% in Windows display settings and all will look fine.

So apart from using Open Office, there's nothing I can do, and I'll have to continue with File Locator. Honestly, this is a big limitation on the search and it would be nice if it were documented somewhere. There's certainly no mention of the limitation here https://www.xyplorer.com/release_17.40.php I'm sure I'm not the only MS Office user who's wasted time on this. Note that it also fails to search pdf files.

My display resolution is already 125%. I need the largish font. Yes - it screws up the information panel, but it's a compromise.

Many are suffering from this MS stupidity. It would cost them nothing to fix this but they are not in the business of fixing bugs.

There is another option for you: Find the 32-bit version of offfiltx.dll and install it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\Filters\offfiltx.dll. Then do some registry editing. See here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/918 ... x64-system
