Windows Classic... uuhmm. Any idea how I could load that into Win8.1? It does not seem to be offered anymore...

Are you using the latest XY? I cannot see how this (your screenshot) could ever happen.

Using 19.50. While not the very latest, it's when the dark theme came out.

Try v19.50.0200 or later. It should be fixed.
