Odd results when changing directories [SOLVED]

Post by MasterBlaster »

Please see the attached.
If I mouse click on the name of a directory (blue area), it opens that directory correctly.
If I click just to the right of directory name but still in that column (red area), it sends me to the computer root directory.
This shouldn't happen. Any area clicked in the correct column could open that directory not send me to the computers root directory.

Two solutions:
  • official method:
  • Enable Tools > Customize List > Full Row Select.
You may have to do this for each tab, unless Configuration > Styles > Apply list styles globally

secret method (and IMO the more practical one):
  • Tweak this ini setting to 1: ListFullNameSelect :veryconfused: ? how to tweak

I have neither of Sammay's solutions.

But just clicking the red area doesn't send me somewhere - it just unselects whatever may be selected.
Only double-click sends me Up.

I assumed MasterBlaster meant double clicks.

Your first option seemed to work. Thanks so much SammaySarkar.
Odd that this program would behave like this as this was a default setting.
Thanks again.

I personally am a diehard mouser. And I absolutely love his whitespace double-click up a directory. It makes me wish every other piece of software I have implemented it. Sometimes in a list the whitespace is a little hard to come by - so I actually appreciate this as a feature.

I might like full row select once in awhile as a modifier-key option, but not often - mostly to mark a long-column layout.

Just my two bits.

It's a feature, you can turn it off here:
Configuration | Menus, Mouse, Safety | Mouse | Dbl-click on empty space goes up
