FYI, the dialog is resizable.

That is not really the point though. A well-designed dialog should not need resizing. I know, tough crowd

Using this thread for another idea:

Shouldn't there be an additional option for "On name collisions": Ask if different size or date (else skip). Right under Ask (see image)? Wouldn't that make sense? In my case it would certainly reduce the number of dialogs I have to react to.

wouldn't that be quite close, just like opposite to "Overwrite if different size or date"?
imo current copying mechanism only lacks the way to leave the decisions for the end, making all collisionless work first.

Code: Select all

Source Target | Ask Ask if Overwrite if
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Name1, Date1 > Name1, Date1 | ask skip skip
Name2, Date1 > Name2, Date2 | ask ask overwrite
It would ask instead of overwriting without questions. For me that would be an interesting setting for normal copies. For backup I set it to "overwrite if newer".

still fail to see real use, but ofcource that just me.
here collision already happened and user needs to decide if overwrite or skip, yet user has Ask variant - so such additional Ask+ would just be more specific about date/size, not name, but basically this would be same Ask to decide each time. doesn't it?

My current setting is "Ask" and I often have this case:

Code: Select all

Name1, Date1 > Name1, Date1
My answer is always "Skip". So I don't need to be asked that question. I only want to be asked interesting questions. I would save a little time and be less boring. :)
