Preview Pane - unresponsive program

I like to have the preview pane on all the time.

But when I mark a file, for example a .docx file, XY starts to load the preview -- which of course is fine. _But_ the preview is not loaded in the background, but keeps me from using XY, before the preivew is completed.

So for example I am "marking" file with the mouse (or arrow key) and then decide I need not this, but the next file in the folder list. But I can not go to the next file, before the preview is loaded. Neither I can not rename a file, before the preview is loaded.

Is there a way to solve this?

There is a tweak PreviewDelayMsecs that could come in handy here:

      preview from happening at all. Press ESC right after selecting the file 
      during the delay, or hold ESC while selecting the file.
      FYI, this tweak can delay previews:
        PreviewDelayMsecs=500

    + Info Panel | Preview: Experimentally added a way to delay the preview so 
      that the current file is not immediately previewed after being selected. 
      This should make it a nicer experience to walk through a directory while 
      the Preview tab is open.

        PreviewDelayMsecs=500
      The setting has no effect on the Floating Preview.

The tweak also affects the Preview Pane. Actually I think I should make it an official setting.

I'll try with 500 ms. That would already improve the experience a bit. Should be default maybe...

No need to tweak anymore. It's now an official setting in config:
Configuration | Preview | Preview delay

Does 500 ms work for you?
