Is the drive mapped with the same user as in XY ?

Yes, this can be done in XY and many other file managers.

I know that Explorer trick because we use it
for a Total Commander admin mode toggle.
Strange, but the script from above doesn't work for me.
The elevation runs fine but going back to unelevated only stops the elevated XY
but doesn't start a normal new one.

A lot of shell extensions are only tested with Explorer
and my crash 3rd party file managers.
The way to found the culprit is to disable all non-Microsoft extensions
and re-enable them one by one or in groups.
