Script to link activity logs and the calendar?

I'm looking for a way to take the automation of my workflow in XY a step further. Has anyone here managed to write a script that would allow me to schedule a time slot in a calendar (like Google or Outlook) directly from a selected file or a change log? The idea is really to sync my file processing times with my schedule to avoid ending up with duplicate or overlapping appointments when I’m working on multiple projects at the same time. If anyone has a lead on which API to use, or even a simple tip on how to sync google calendars ? I've seen some pieces of code lying around but nothing really solid yet, so I’d love to hear it if you have any ideas.
