From searches, it seems like TortoiseGit overlays should be applied to file icons if the "Show overlay icons" option is checked, but they're not showing for me. I do see the Gdrive overlays, but not TortoiseGit. TG does show up in Explorer, and the keys appear first in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers.
Am I missing something?
Also, is there any way to get the folder context menu when clicking the blank area of a folder in the file pane? If I right-click in the folder tree, I see the full Explorer menu. But if right-click in the right pane, I just get some built-in menu. The Explorer menu is critical for easily accessing TortoiseGit commands.
Thanks!
Are TortoiseGit overlays supposed to show up on files?

1) If you are running the 32bit version of XYplorer you may need to export that Tortoise regkey then change the path to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers
instead, and then re-merge, or if they already exist there, make sure they appear first in that location too.
2) Unsure exactly what you mean, but try changing this:
Configuration | General | Custom Event Actions >> Right-click on white in file list
to "Pop up folder's context menu"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers
instead, and then re-merge, or if they already exist there, make sure they appear first in that location too.

Re: Are TortoiseGit overlays supposed to show up on files?
I'm running the 64-bit version of 28.20, according to the about box. Is there a different regkey path for the 64-bit version? (I'm assuming not, as Win 11 is itself 64-bit.)
BUT, I'm realizing the menu that's shown in XYplorer doesn't include the TortoiseGit commands. Neither right-clicking the tree or the file list shows those commands at all, which makes the app not very useful for my needs. Hoping there's some way of getting the commands into that menu...
Thanks, that does show the folder menu now.Configuration | General | Custom Event Actions >> Right-click on white in file list

NoIs there a different regkey path for the 64-bit version?
Which TortoiseGit version and bitness is installed?
Enter
fresh; in the address bar, hit {ENTER}Configuration | General | Refresh, Icons, History | Icons | [x] Show icon overlays
Does the menu show the TortoiseGit entries?
Do the pane entries show the git icon overlays?
Show screenshots and the ones from Windows file explorer (with the same folder!) as well...
I have no problems with the overlays or menu in XY x64 / x32 here...
