Label Background Question(s)

Post by tim_crouse »

I am running the portable version of XYplorer v25.40.0400

I noticed the label background color is persistent, E.g. meaning regardless if the row is selected or the tab is active or inactive
any file or folder that has an assigned label will always have the label-defined background color.

Currently, I am trying to use labels that only change the file or folder font color, and hoping the background remains in-sync with the current tab or row selected state backgroun dcolor.

Is there a setting that allows the label background to follow the current state of:
-Selected State
-Tab State

Thanks in Advance
-Tim C.

To achieve that, you'd need to directly modify the tag.dat in a text editor and remove the background color from the definitions, which will make the background transparent. Here is an example for Red: Red|FC7268|; You can get the path for your tag file from this dialog:

Tags | Load Tags Database...

Recommend saving your tags (and creating a backup) before modifying the file, pressing ok in that dialog after you have finished the modifications should apply the changes, if you did it correctly.

I don't know what you mean by "Tab State" color.

By Tab State I was referring to ACTIVE or INACTIVE

Each state has a different background color (at least in my setup)..

Thanks for the reply.

If you follow my directions, the background color of the label would be transparent, so it wouldn't have a color to be affected by pane/selected state.

PS: You may instead find it suitable just setting the coloring to the label column only. (but that won't affect font color like you originally requested, and as my previous suggestion achieves)
